She's a good action and drama actress, but would not be in my top 10 choices for the role. It will be interesting to see what they come up with.

I really like her as an actress. Very classical yet unique looks. I can certainly visualise her striding forth from the Western Hyrkanian Steppes.

Interesting to see how they are going to handle this. I hope they steer away from the chain-mail bikini super-hero and go more along the lines of the RS from the BWS Song of Red Sonya. I'm guessing that version of the character was closer to REH's RS than the later bikini Hyrkanian version?

With Red Sonja I would like it if they did it as a 1980's style fun fantasy film that didn't take itself too seriously.

Howard (Audiobook)It'd be far more interesting if it was closer to this tone than to either make it a bit on the goofy side or try to do whatever they're doing now in the comics to make her more "palatable" to...well anyone except her audience for years and years. They COULD do a chain mail bikini scene as a one off nod to its roots, then move on. They'd have to very deft and tactile to do it and I don't know the people working on the film well enough to know if they could pull it off. |

Been pretty hilarious seeing the fanboys losing their s**t over today's casting news on Facebook. I've tried to help things along by taking the p**s at times. Looking forward , with great glee , to when Conan and Solomon Kane are cast LOL

Hollywood f*cks up everything these days with their rainbow Jihad bullshit, blackwashing gestapo and all kind of crap. Im surprised they wont make Sonja into a tranny 😕 Blackwashing will soon destroy even Superman as it is confirmed yesterday. Yes, even Clark Kent will become black. My question is why is it so hard to cast original redhead/white woman or at least one who has the physical stature to play her? Wonder if this is telling young girls with red hair they are not good enough to play a character that looks like them 🤔

Her creed is not an issue to me with this cinematic portrayal. If the actress can inhabit the character and proves to be effective in the role of Red Sonja, that is good enough for me. The Sonja character has already been subjected to a reinterpretation with Marvel. She is more of a Marvel creation than from REH.
I am just glad that sword and sorcery / fantasy seems to be back in cinematic vogue. I can compromise when it comes to seeing anything from the imagination of REH on screen.
Obviously when iconic characters like Conan, James Bond, Tarzan etc are involved, then perfect casting is key. Capturing their physicality and appearance are paramount for authenticity.

Honestly, every piece of information about this new movie makes me sincerely hope that it'll just gonna crumble in development. A great, let alone good Red Sonja movie just cannot and will not exist in the modern era.
