I hope that if this movie is a hit that will finally be the push Netflix needs to finally make the Conan series.
I don’t even know though that if Conan were standing over their shoulder like REH imagined, that would even be enough by Crom!

So if Red Sonja is a hit, does this rekindle interest in Conan on film? Probably yes, but we still don't know how similar and truthful this movie is going to be to the Hyborian world/characters/vibe.
MJ's goal is something between Gladiator and LOTR in terms of style and photography with realistic action/fighting scenes.
Anyway, just like johnnypt said earlier on this topic-the whole movie is on the shoulders of the lead actress. She's got the look, that's for sure, and I suppose (I didnt watch anything with her) enough acting and physical skills(she performed mostly in action movies) to deliver convincing RS lead role.
Her costume is also very important, because it's not the same if she will look sexy, dangerous and cool in it, or if she will look silly and funny.
Wallis has no curves to wear chain-mail bikini so I'm really interested to see what the costume department come up with.
The only thing that worries me is that she has short hair in those practicing videos.
I hope that MJ doesnt plan to make some modern, emo version of Sonja with a short, boyish haircut. Or maybe she is going to wear a wig, but there is no need for that because Wallis has beautiful long hair and exactly Sonja's type of haircut.

According to Malmberg, their decision will be made by the end of the year. We'll see if that's correct, I suspect it's close to the deadline to where a decision has to be made. Hopefully MJ is not doing it Roger Corman style and Red Sonja is finished by that point! |

3 months of filming is the general plan but it could be faster or slower. MJ had covid two months ago so pre-production was delayed.
If the whole crew is healthy and there are no unforeseen problems, they should finish filming at the end of October or the beginning of November, and the premiere is scheduled for the next year, anniversary for Sonja, because that's when she turns 50.

Wallis Day was in the Superman prequel Kryptonite and was pretty decent. I see her working nicely as RS.

There is still no off.announcement but WD practically confirmed that on her Insta page.
Horseback riding video is from Bulgaria.
Yes, she could play some supporting role in the movie too, but with that face she must be Sonja.

I hope its not Lara Heller or Matilda Lutz.
Luke Lieberman's wife continues to convince RS fans that chosen Sonja is a fantastic actress. For me, that is the least important for this movie.  This guy (Martin Ford) probably is going to be one of the bad guys in the movie.  |
