Ha,ha,yes,those eyes...

Amanda looks perfect for SF and horror movies,and as far as I remember she had a lot of roles in those genres.

Good pick-she has Sonja's face,and she is in a good shape.

Her only minus is Latina origin=look, and she is not so young.

Several times, on RS official Insta page moderator Shannon Kingston has posted photos of the Brazilian model Tham Ferreira as a example of real-life Red Sonja.

However, based on her comments (see them after the photos) regarding the actress who has been chosen by MJ, I concluded that looks were not the important criteria in the selection.

Filming starts in Greece in a few weeks.

A new version of an older film shot in the 1980s, an epic fantasy cinema production entitled "Red Sonja" in a new version is preparing to be shot after the end of summer and in the first part of autumn, in Thessaloniki.
"The film that is being prepared and will probably be shot in Thessaloniki is a remake of a film that was shot with Brigitte Nielsen, a film that was released in cinemas at the same time as the well-known "Conan the Barbarian" with Arnold Schwarzenegger." Panos Kouanis, president and managing director of the National Centre for Audiovisual Media and Communication (EKOME), explained, speaking to the radio station of APE-MPE "Praetroio 104,9 FM".
In fact, as Mr. Kouanis said, the casting for the new Hollywood production is currently being "closed". The new production is currently being prepared to launch in the city and EKOME is also waiting for the official application for inclusion in the Greek rebate program.
This particular film, which was in the brewing even in late 2021 and early 2022, was delayed from moving forward as "the director who had been in charge of the project had a commitment with Amazon to produce a series, so the filming was postponed," as the EKOME president explained.
At the moment, the filming is actually being organized, as Mr. Kouanis added, noting that everything is converging so that in August, the production company will apply to the National Centre for Audiovisual Media and Communication so that the filming "can start at the end of August to the beginning of September". According to existing information, these will take place mostly in Thessaloniki, with a duration of up to one month."

It's very strange that they still don't announce which actress will be Sonja. My guess is that it's because they're not sure how the fans will react, especially considering the backlash against Hannah, so they'll probably film the lead actress in costume on set first and then release those photos to the media along with the official announcement. In this way, they will probably silence the negative reactions of those fans who will not be satisfied with the choice of the actress who they can hardly imagine as Red Sonja without costume, makeup and red hair. In addition, it is very likely that the actress has been training and shaping her body in the gym for the past few months and now physically looks different than usual, so this could also influence fans to give her a chance even though they couldn't imagine her as Sonja before.

MJ said she will apply realistic style on this movie-in directing and in cinematography.

She said she doesnt like stylized comic book look like 300, or too much CGI like in Marvel movies.

She said that Gladiator is some kind of model she's going for.

So, they are targeting the widest audience with this movie-not typical RS/Conan/Sword and Sorcery fandom which is anyway small and irrelevant to the commercial success of one Hollywood movie. So, there are only two ways for the people behind this project to sell this movie and attract an audience that is not interested in this genre at all:

1.to hire an A-star actress

2. to find an unknown but attractive actress who will be convincing in the action scenes.(just like Patty Jenkins did with Gal Gadot casting)

Millennium Film had female A-stars in their films but the budget for this movie is insufficient for such a thing, so the only second option remains.

If they fail with second option, this movie is going to bomb no matter how spectacular and original action scenes MJ manages to direct.

That is why I hope that Wallis Day is Sonja.

She has Sonja's face and she's gorgeous; OK, she's not curvy but is tall enough with athletic, not muscular body,

she is young enough to make more movies in the RS franchise they are planning...

I have no idea how good actress is she, but I am sure is good enough to pull out this kind of role.

I bet its not accident that she's been practicing sword fighting, horse riding and shooting arrows last months:

I doubt it’ll be enough of a box office smash to turn heads in a major way. Netflix has Conan right in front of them, it’s their call.
