I tried to enlarge the picture of Matilda in the costume from the set. It's blurry, but we can conclude that the costume will be a combination of a bikini top and a skirt, in line with what MJ hinted at in the live video - a combination of a classic comic book costume and practical clothes.
These boots look terrible.

Is this the photo?  Looks like they're playing at being gladiators. This'll probably be how she gets a similar type costume to the comics in the movie. |

From what I can tell they'll take very little from Mark Russell's run. Which is based on the historical Tomyris, the female ruler of the nomadic Massagetae who defeated and killed the Emperor of Iran by retreating east, picking off the weakened sedentary army of the Persians in the grasslands of Central Asia. Instead, it seems likely that in this movie Draygan the Magnificent of Zamora will conquer and enslave the Hyrkanians. Draygan will marry Annisia (sister/half sister of Sonja from the Gail Simone run), and Annisia will eventually remember how much she loves her people. Red Sonja and her fellow gladiators will revolt against the tyrant and slay him, but not in time save her sister Annisia  |

Lots of CGI in that shot--is this going to look like the Showtime series, Spartacus?
The ground looks to be CGI, and the background. Only the actors aren't digital.

Bump uglies, sever limbs and wax Shakespearean. Good times. Frankly I wish DeKnight had made a Ceasar focused sequel series in the same style. |

Yes, as I said before, those gladiator scenes clearly indicate that that motif from the Gail Simone's run was used. Draygan will marry Annisia (sister/half sister of Sonja from the Gail Simone run), and Annisia will eventually remember how much she loves her people. Red Sonja and her fellow gladiators will revolt against the tyrant and slay him, but not in time save her sister Annisia I assume that the line from Simone's run will be followed and that Sonja and Annisia will be rivals and that the final showdown will be between two of them.
After all, the photo from the set indicates that.  They sure liked to bump uglies alot on that show. It was the best written and acted pornography ever. With Shakespearean dialogues.
Unfortunately in RS movie we probably won't see anything that made that series so good, and certainly not
so many naked beautiful women of all types.
As we saw in the RS set photos, the Hyborian girls of MJ will be buttoned up to the neck.
Looks like MJ is making Sonja for the (straight) female crowd.
And unlike men they will probably have something to watch in that sense.

This picture shows Red Sonja will wear a bikini top and skirt in the movie. ![]()  Not the super skimpy outfit from the comics but the chances we would have seen that outfit on the big screen were close to zero. Tbh I'm already surprised they went with a bikini top as I was convinced she would be completely covered up. At least Matilda Lutz will be showing some skin for the men and women that find her attractive. She will also show more skin than the other fighters so at least she will stand out that way. |
