Thanks Von K. The stuff in Black & White looks pretty good. Pulled in over 100k in it's first day on a goal of 40k. Not quite Eric July numbers but still damned impressive for an indie title.

I recently bought this graphic novel at Big City Comics in Footscray, Melbourne's western suburbs, part of my stomping ground. Hawk the Slayer: Watch For Me In The Night by Garth Ennis and Henry Flint. A comics sequel to the Hawk the Slayer movie from the 80's. This brings back Hawk, Gort and Crow, the sorceress, with new allies warrior women Bella and the bard Wain. The dark wizards form some alliance to try and destroy Hawk and obtain the magical mindsword. Voltan is brought back from the dead, although undead. A quick yarn, gets into the thick of things, not big on world building, but that's what the movie was like too. Up to this day I still don't know if this was supposed to be set somewhere in the middle ages or some other fantasy world. I read somewhere that the director Terry Marcel intended the movie to be a historical film devoid of magic, but changed that along the way when writing the script for Hawk.

A comic shop in Camden Town, London. Cheers They picked up the X-Men box set along with a couple more (Avengers & Civil War Box Set) sometime in December last year. Originally cost £300, managed to get the X-Men Box Set for £150!

Had an idea the other day for a line of non-superhero comics. Heavy emphasis on historical adventures, swashbucklers, pirates, adaptations of things that are in the public domain but are less well-known to the general public. There could also be a companion line of Science-Fiction and Fantasy, with Sword and Sorcery. Not sure what to call it, though.

I picked up the first few issues of the mew Wesley Dodds Sandman series from DC. I haven't read them yet but it's set in the golden age so I figured I'd give it try.
I walked around my LCS after picking up my usual Conan and Gargoyles comics and it was the only other book that caught my eye.
