I thought it would be fun to have a place just to discuss comics besides the Conan stuff, seeing as many of us are into it. Some ideas for conversation...
What are your currently reading?
Recent purchases?
What are you looking forward to/upcoming releases?
Pictures of any shelves to drool over?

I actually have a lot on pre-order right now through Tales of Wonder and Cheap Graphic novels. Most of my purchases represent floppies that I used to have in my younger days that are now collected. Wolverine Omnibus #2 Superman: Man of Steel #3 Art of Arkhum A bunch of Sandman TPBs to fill out that run (loved Season of Mists and Game of You). Batman by Neal Adams #2 Batman: Under the Red hood X-Men Legionquest Ka-Zar Omnibus Last Siege Incredible Hulk by Peter David #3 Just got done reading a TPB called Count Crowly that was actually pretty fun.

I was a die hard collector of Marvel Masterworks until life got in the way and I had to stop in mid 2015. One of the saddest things that happened before that was the "suspension" of the pre-FF Masterworks from the 40s and 50s. The 40s ones were a little tough to get through sometimes, but the 50s ones could be very interesting. They were working towards the era when Jack Kirby and Steve Ditko came on board in 1958 or so after the Atlas implosion. They gotten the Strange Tales and Journey Into Mystery lines one volume away from reaching these issues when the 2008 collapse took it out. I'd speculated on an idea about how they could do it without these two lines by doing an omnibus for those two tiles of just the issues where Jack and Steve started (ST 67 and JIM 50 or so). I wonder if someone over on the Masterworks board saw my idea because they ended up doing a similar idea by doing two volumes each of all the Kirby & Ditko stories from that era. This got all of that material restored (thank you Cory!) and now they've moved onto doing other material, like Kirby's war and romance work. I'm hoping the success of these will lead to the revival of the line for just three volumes: Strange Tales V7, Journey Into Mystery V5 and Venus V2 (the romance comic turned horror with issue #10 and with #12, Sub Mariner creator Bill Everett basically took over the book and went to town). I'd come out of "retirement" to buy these three. Otherwise I'm just out of the week to week, month to month reading of new stuff. Someday I'd like to get back to it but I've been able to get a lot of it digitally, so I still have access to it. I just need sitdown time again.

As an old fogey I'm pretty well over current stuff as they seem to change the characters too much for my liking apart from the following.
I'm currently reading Batman and Detective , I think the writers are really producing at present tying in with the Future State story-line. The only other is Daredevil which has been consistently good since the Marvel Knights relaunch.I collect both in trades , though I do read online to try and beat spoilers.
The only book I'm looking forward to is the return of Saga. I do miss The Walking Dead which is the other book I've collected in recent years.
The rest of my comic reading has been a chronological re-read of Marvel , currently reading December 1968 , plus Batman comics from the 40's and 60's. I'm reading these online. I bought most of the 60's/70's stuff at the time but long gone.

IDW’s James Bond comic started off just this side of superb, with slick art and razor-sharp scripts by Warren Ellis and Andy Diggle. This is an unreconstructed lethal Bond, a dangerous man accustomed to both polite high society and savage struggles for survival. The comic faltered after Diggle’s second arc and finally seemed to lose its way completely just before the pandemic. I thought it had been discontinued. Turns out it came back as a monthly in March and my noble comic shop saved me all three issues. The new writer is Christos Gage and his stuff is back on point. Two more issues to complete the story but this feels like the best Bond comic in years.
If you’re curious and haven’t checked out a Bond comic the early Ellis collections VARGR and Eidolon are the way to go.

I'm a sucker for anything by Mark Schultz or Al Williamson. I love EC and Warren mags. I dabble in Judge Dredd. If I'm in the mood for something lighter, I'll go for Barks or Rosa.

I've been picking up omnis of the old stuff mainly but had to stick to the REH books. The mutant stuff is tempting but too expensive with so many omnibus reprints recently (we still got 5 more REH related omnis to go this year, that's around £350 to £400).
Out of the new stuff I pick up the odd issue here and there like Daniel Warren Johnson's Beta Ray Bill mini series. I like Johnson's art it does not look too clean, gives it a bit of character, I think. I'll probably pick up the graphic novel in the end.
I also picked up the 1st issue of Wonder Girl, thanks primarily to the art of Joelle Jones and the Milius Conan inspired origin of the character. Doubt I will continue on that one, not really collected DC comics and I'm really fed up of seeing good characters like Batman fight the Joker for the thousandth time no matter how good the story and art. After a while the same stories repeated again and again in different dimensions in a multitude of realities gets really boring.
I prefer the Marvel universe but I can't think of a single title that I find interesting right now. Savage Avengers is easily the best Avengers book, it is fun and I'm looking forward to the next issue. The mutant titles under Hickman started off well but I think it is a complete mess right now and I'm fed up of these constant events. I've heard a lot of good things about Daredevil by Zdarsky, I'll probably pick up the 1st volume of the deluxe edition.
I intend to pick up Ed Brubaker's original graphic Novel 'Pulp' I think they mention REH in that one. If I like Pulp I'll try some of the other books. The only thing that makes me hesitate is the artwork; I think Sean Phillips is good, but that reference style artwork gets boring to me very quickly. I would like a little more creativity in the artwork, I know I'm being harsh, but I'd like to see where an artist thinks the shadows will be rather where they are - the same goes for anatomy, posture and gesture of characters, if it looks too realistic, the artist is not saying anything. I know that probably don't make much sense.
I have been tempted by the Kazar omni. Look forward to what you think of it.

Love that cover. DOOM inspired. I am going to have to keep my eye on that one.
I hear you about the cost of this hobby. I am torn between jumping off the Conan omnis with the lesser regarded creators, but then won't have a complete collection. Basically I budget for a few big books each month and maybe a few TPBs from my wish list. It's a bottomless pit, this hobby. What started out as just buying Conan omnis has become much more since there is so much good looking content out there. For example, I will probably collect the TMNT IDW hardcovers next, because I think I would really enjoy those and they are universally loved. Most of what I buy is still in shrink wrap waiting for me when I retire as a gift to myself. I am also running out of room on one of my bookshelves and don't have the space for another shelf. Not sure what to do about that.

Recently read the first two Reckless books by Ed Brubacker and Sean Phillips which I really enjoyed. Essentially their take on the paperback pulp of the 70s and 80s. I read the second volume (Friend of the Devil) first and I think I prefer it but both are good. The third book is due soon I think. The Count Crowley and Last God books look cool. Will have to check those out.

During the dark years of the Brian Wood run on Conan I picked up Five Ghosts by Frank J Barbiere & Chris Mooneyham to get some decent adventure with pirates. I think the book only lasted 17 issues collected in 3 TPBs.
