I never used to care about this kind of thing, especially the stuff swirling around among adults and their tug-of-war plight. When it comes to kids though, that's a different story. There absolutely is a coordinated agenda meant to indoctrinate kids by Hollywood and it does involve emasculating of boys among other things. I actually don't have that big of a problem with China is doing. If we are in an age of mass-censorship anyway, between the two paths, I would rather be on theirs. There is no mass censorship in the West though.

Conservatives and especially those that favor traditionally family values are censored/banned all the time by big tech for "wrong-think." There is a ton of censorship surrounding COVID. 90% of mainstream media is controlled by liberals successfully controlling the general narrative, which is also a form of censorship.

That's a different form of "censorship" though, if you even want to call it that. China is on a whole other level and trying to equate these two situations detracts from what kind of situation China is in.

The Battle of Lake Changjin trailer looks epic, and this is a great example of where you can enjoy watching something like this, but it doesn't mean that you are anti American or pro communist. Ideologically speaking I'm closer to the ideals set by the American founding fathers, less so with the current left of the west or communists of China and North Korea, I hate the big state ( whether it's woke or not ). The entertainment industry is too politicised these days, great story telling takes second place to identity politics. Too bad they locked the 'Collapse of Civilisation' thread, but all it takes is a turn of the key though

The entertainment industry is too politicised these days, great story telling takes second place to identity politics. This is the prime example of politicised movies though. It may be so blunt and dumb that we can see through it but I am pretty sure that it works for most mainland Chinese. This movie is the complete opposite of just a fun movie and while we might laugh at the clunky and obvious propaganda, I guarantee you that watching too much of these Chinese military movies will have an effect on you after all. Just seeing how many people (left and right) say that China and the US are kind of equally bad scares me.

Twitter Facebook YouTube CNN MSNBC ABC All late night comedy talk shows Huff Post Washington Post NPR That's just off the top of my head.

Not withstanding some of the obvious nationalistic jingoism inherent in the trailer, the 'middle kingdom' has also given us some great Chinese cinema period pieces set in pre communist China, remember when everybody was into 'Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon', although the movie was somewhat of a multi national undertaking. Unfortunately, western nations have taken some of the worst aspects from the Chinese system of state political suppression and incorporated them into their own systems. For instance, the Covid response, first in China, came directly from the CCP playbook.
