From an early age I saw Conan's world as entirely removed from the superhero one, I imagined the Hyborian Age occurring in our history's distant past. If Conan was transported into the future it would be to our time, not Marvel 616 or any of that multiverse nonsense.
Having said that , I found Savage Avengers to be a bit of a fun read, nothing to be taken too seriously, had a 90's feel to it, kinda like mixing Conan with the DC heroes.

Totally agree but then again, I wouldn't consider the Marvel comics set in the modern world to be Conan canon anyway. They made sure to not publish stories like that in the 21st century main series or savage sword stories either.

That was always the impression conveyed back in the late 20th century when I was reading the original SSOC mags, that is, the Marvel universe was entirely separate from Conan's Hyborian Age. Of course, back in the 80's you had the occasional cross over, for instance Spiderman and King Kull, issue 112 of Marvel Team Up, but as you pointed out, it was not Conan canon, or Kull in the case of the Marvel Team Up. Just a bit of fun, and I read it that way. Remember reading the letters page of SSOC in the day and you would always get someone saying 'it would be cool to have Wolverine or Punisher fighting Conan', but the writers and editors laughed off the suggestion, and rightly so. The current Savage Avengers was kind of a What If in its own right, once Conan left Marvel it was never mentioned again.

But there was a Wolverine vs. Conan What If? It was Volume 2, number 16 released in 1990.

Yes, but that was What If, not SSOC.

Seem to recall there was also a Conan vs Captain America. I suppose these kinds of crossovers could be referred to as pop culture meta narratives, the combat ones spurred by a similar motive perhaps as having Link, Spawn and Geralt of Rivia appearing as combatants in the Soul Caliber series.

I can confirm this DOES exist. Saw it yesterday in a warehouse.

Posted on the Masterworks Board
"Tom Brevoort just gave this answer in his newsletter when asked why SAVAGE AVENGERS isn't available on Marvel Unlimited, "Because we no longer have the rights to Conan or his characters or world, we can no longer reprint that material. And that includes having it available in digital formats.""
