I loved this movie, you must see the 3d version tho...it made me wish I still did acid. Spectacular and the women are so blessed sexy...wow. Don't miss this one if you have ever enjoyed fantasy or mythology. It is getting slammed by some because a few of the actors are white...I don't get that at all, there are plenty of people of color in the flick. I think maybe they are mad at the director Michael Bey who also made 13 hours which portrayed Americans in a positive light. Anyhow, don't miss this flick it is truly amazing and now I know how those people back in the thirties felt when they went to see King Kong...a wonderful couple hours of spectacle.

Like I said, a lot of the politically correct collective seem to be compelled to sabatoge this flick but its a great movie. The Risen is solid too

I finally got to see Gods of Egypt, and I enjoyed it. It was not merely eye candy, it was a visual feast. Kind of a lightweight story, except it asks the interesting question "Can a god grow?"

There is no political correct crowd only dissing the whitewashing of this film the trouble is not the heroes are white but culture ancient people should in Egypt before the arabs,Greeks. You can enjoy it as a decent fun type of film but know it is dissed for a good reason. As someone who shares Cushitic,North African genetics with the people of the ancient Egypt no way should a danish actor play their gods. The only the Gods are white is because Hollywood is racist Ridley Scott himself said the film wouldnt be made with the financers if the leads was black. I admire Ridley Scott being honest about it way before oscarssowhite debate. So i dont really care to make a big deal about silly blockbuster film but its good whitewashing became a huge blockbuster flop Yet again im not talking about the film itself but Hollywood failing with whitewashing.....

were you mad when a black guy played Hemindal in Thor? I didnt like since it wasnt true to Norse myth but that doesnt compare to majority of similar films being the other way. Im saying you can see the problem from the minority POV even if you are a majority. Does Heimdall give Hollywood excuse to whitewash Avatar:Last Airbender who were about chinese, korean, japanese cultures? Read what Ridley Scott said about this film and see that Heimdall case isnt a real issue to talk about when its the opposite too often.... The film itself is not the problem but you have to know the people behind them and what they think of people of color. That they cant make money on films with blacks,asian-americans,indians etc is cheap excuse. USA is diverse in its people while Hollywood is the opposite. Its good atleast there is debate in US there are people seeing the problems, willing to fix it and there are tv shows created by younger creators who want to star more multicultural cast. Master of None, Crazy Ex-girlfriend,Blackish,Off the boat etc

does it upset you when every film hollywood makes about racism always features white peope as the racists? I dont like it one bit...in fact i would say most racism is manufactured by politics at least it is in the USA...the whining about Gods of Egypt is all politics and everybody knows it

If they had depicted the gods with animal heads as the Egyptians did, then we wouldn't be worrying about the race of the actors.

Of course, another way of looking at the problem of the race of the actors portraying the Egyptian gods is from the Howardian viewpoint in which they represent the Vanir conquerors of Stygia, which would explain their fair hair and blue eyes.

Then it would be no problem but the issue i have is more with the thinking of people behind the film ei real world issues of race fueling the prejudice. Like your post mentioning REH mythos, creations there is story reasons for REH making Vanir in Stygia etc. REH didnt think like Ridley Scott i cant make stories about black people..... I mean i love reading Solomon Kane saving people from Vampires in darkest Africa because its great story and nothing more. Sometimes it a story reasons and sometimes is much more sinister....

This wasn't directed by Michael Bay. It was Alex Proyas.
And Libaax, you're referring to Exodus: Gods and Kings, not Gods of Egypt. Ridley Scott had nothing to do with this one. But Exodus was pretty terrible.
I was resisting seeing this because of the whitewashing as I did The Lone Ranger (though I ended up getting forced to see that and liking it), but my wife really wants to check it out as she's a nut for all things Egyptian and I gotta admit the giant cobra riders look pretty cool. I'll probably wait for home video though.
