Maybe Mignola works for Hellboy and some of the Batman stuff, some ads, sort of bent style with a certain look, but it's not what I associate with Conan. As far as I am concerned, artists like John Buscema should be used as the template. Roberto De La Torre has been taking notes.

Including an Arnie film one! Are we never getting away from that *sigh*. I thought by now we might have had a Netflix teaser one but I guess that's dead in the water!

Almost seems like a surrender, doesn't it? "OK we know this is what a lot of you think of when you hear Conan so..." Would've been a perfect place to put a cover for the TV show with the star on it but...yeah, guess that ship has sailed with no one on it again.

We still got the movie adaptation by De Camp and the 40th anniversary edition later this year from Titan, you'd think that'd be enough.
No, they have to chuck in a silly photoshopped sword for the cover of their 1st novel and a variant cover from the movie for the 1st issue of CtB.

I don't like Villarrubia colors. They look artificial, and very digital, just like that light blue line across the girl's face. But it is what it is and that is what we have for today. Looks much better in black and white: BRING BACK SSOC!

Looks much better in black and white: BRING BACK SSOC! Black and white Conan already has a very loyal fan base. And it is huge. I am not into comic business but to insist on a color comic when it comes to Conan is not very smart because it has been done so many times in the past 20 years. Had it been a black and white comic, it would gather more attention from the public and the media. People would be yelling, hell, Savage Sword is finally back!

First time I've seen all the covers, gathered together in one place. Don't know if going colour by default is an American market based decision but if Titan chose to try a SSOC inspired B+W version print run for the European market I feel sure it would do well - the French and Italians esp would love Roberto's art in b+W imho.

I have to agree, Cover B looks best!
And while I have to agree that Mignola's art style is something else... He may pull a Mignola fan or two - and he did write for the Conan 2003 series before as well.
Wondering what the Hyborian Age Map cover will look like in real life because I like that one too tbh.

There are certainly some Artgerm fans out there:

Why Mignola adapted to the newer style, and why everything he does now looks the same, is odd. His early stuff is nice. You can, however, see hints of his current style. Maybe Marvel "kept him in line"? "Stop it! Stay in the lines, Mignola!"

He did this style in Hellboy (Dark Horse) and kept it ever since for most things he drew. It's a unique and recognizable (yet not very attractive) style, so I think that's why he is going with it.

That should be of great concern to Titan. Dynamite has more pull in the direct market than Titan Comics and they have variant incentive covers out the ass, they could easily have their Red Sonja title outsell the Conan title. Which would be an embarassment.
I haven't looked at sales figures lately, but if both are selling through Diamond, we should be able to compare the figures. But it's been a while since I looked at the break down between comic distributors and publishers. It was so much simpler to track figures when Diamond had the monopoly and distributed everything. They’re going to have a very high bar to meet with that.
