This one does definitely skirt the limits of fan fiction. It served a dramatic purpose, I guess they figured since the appendicies don’t say it DIDN’T happen that’s their out. I still think the Durin thing is more problematic. And they really didn’t need to compress this many things in so short of a time.

I think it's a fine story for the creation of Mordor, even if the mechanism they used for it was kind of silly.

The funny thing is they're going to have to make up a lot of their own stuff as well. There ain't a whole lot about Helm Hammerhead in there, like a paragraph or two. Now this is all provided that lawsuit gets all settled out before the film comes out. Probably should've just left it at the reveals weren't out of Tolkien, but that bitterness sometimes overtakes you. That tweeting...

I think I have never HATED a piece of media as much I HATE "Rings of Power".
I'm just hoping they would stop doing the dreaded season 2 and act like this thing has never happened in the first place.

I think I have never HATED a piece of media as much I HATE "Rings of Power". I'm just hoping they would stop doing the dreaded season 2 and act like this thing has never happened in the first place. At half a billion dollars, it's coming. I noted that if it doesn't reach Season 5, that's when we'll know it's lost too much money. I think Season 3 will be the drop dead point. If they do Season 4, they'll have to finish it off. Supposedly they're bringing more experienced hands on board to help "adjust". Let's see if they make it better...or worse. And this is from someone as you've read (and maybe heard) who generally likes the show, but can definitely understand criticisms.

This bit of speculation would drive our buddy Al Harron up a wall: www.cbr.com/rings-of-power-celeborn-glorfindel-switch-lotr/I hope this is (yet another case where CBR is) wrong, they can easily have Celeborn AND Glorfindel, it's not like we know for sure Celeborn is dead. They need to bring Anarion back as well, we'll see if they show up in Season Two among the (at least) 8 new cast members.

LOL nothing personal, Jeff! Keep putting out your streaming TV show and playing studio head, while trying to squeeze all you can out of our leftovers. This is good news, I hope WETA and the New Zealand film industry will be involved.

I can foresee absolutely no way in which this could possibly go right.

Can't be worse than that ridiculous amazon series. If Jackson, Walsh and Boyens are involved, maybe something worthwhile will come out.

Ok now that I had a chance to read the article…if they’re going to make up brand new stories completely disconnected from what’s in the books, safe to say there’s ZERO interest in that. But exactly what else can they parse out of the appendicies that involve the hobbits that’s worth a movie? There’s a lot of Third Age to work with, the problem is coming up with one of the stories that can be of interest to get people into the theater. You’d think they’d have waited to see how the anime picture does (is that still slated for next year?) before jumping in again.
