Even if we ignore the idiotic woke casting (black elves and dwarves) and decisions (creators of this TV show do not realize that Galadriel is a strong and powerful woman even if she does not lead the army with a sword in her hand), this teaser looks disappointing - like a movie or TV series for children like Narnia or The Shannara Chronicles, only on a bigger budget, or like a adaptation of a popular video game for teenagers. CGI is amateurish, and the actors look like they were picked from some C list. The worst choice is the actress who plays Galadriel.
Galadriel has to look special, unusual, to be unearthly beautiful, and this girl looks average, ordinary and boring.

Really digged the LoTR movies, also the Hobbit. Never cared much for the books, too long winded for me, I forced myself to read everything, the appendix on the languages of men, elves, dwarves and so on, what a bore that was, but the books had their moments.
Would never reread them though, life is too short for that.

Going to dig out Return of the King for the Appendicies, Silmarillion, Unfinished Tales and Lost Road to start and read up on the Second Age material in there so I can see exactly what they're doing (or not doing) with the story. The question will be exactly where does it end: with Elendil and Gil-galad defeating Sauron and Isildur getting the ring or will it go all the way to him losing it? I think the latter would be a proper end point for the series.

Sounds cool, they'll be sure to pick apart what needs picking apart! I also have to get back into OneRing.net and follow things over there again.

When I was a kid I watched the Japanese tv series 'Monkey', everyone was east Asian in appearance, demons, heroes, everyone, but that was never an issue for me, never thought that it should have been more diverse and have more white and black people playing this or that, never thought about race quotas back than. Tolkien was influenced by various European traditions such as Celtic, Norse myths and Old English literature. Middle Earth is very Euro centric, but that's fine, it's what Tolkien wanted. If there is an audience that wants more 'diversity' in their Lord of the Rings then fair enough, but I still think the new series is racist cause I could not see any native Americans, Hispanics and East Asian looking types, not to mention Inuit, everyone knows you need Inuit in every movie or tv series or you are definitely racist, but what do I know about prejudice and exclusion, I'm just a dangerous unvaccinated spreader who is rightfully kept out of movie theaters, museums and other venues of public interest to keep the beautiful people safe

"Per Tolkien, there were originally three races of hobbit. The Stoors were a small group, they were broad and stocky, they grew facial hair, they liked rivers, and their skin color is not specified, so Tolkien probably meant them to be white. The Fallohides were a tiny group, they were thin, pale and tall, they were bold and good with languages, and they like trees. The Harfoots were the distinct majority, they lived in holes, they had hairy feet, and they were brown. Tolkien is super clear on this. He explicitly calls out Harfoots as having browner skin than other hobbits when describing the races and he uses phrases like “nut-brown skin” and “long brown fingers” when describing specific hobbits to back it up." tastefuldabbing.wordpress.com/2016/05/08/concerning-hobbits-of-color/

That was Japanese people cast as Chinese and Indian people. Guess as long as they are "Asian" that isn't an issue

Well if Eric Roberts was King of the Gypsies, I guess she could be from that group of them
