I didn't know that bonesaw, thanks. The knight's watch channel has another vid discussing at greater length a number of factors mentioned in the short vid above including that phrase - but he didn't mention that.

I'm looking forward to this, not a big Tolkien fan/purist. I read the Hobbit and Aragorn's portion of Two Towers but couldn't get into Fellowship.
The LotR trilogy, video game spin-offs, and to a lesser extent, the Hobbit trilogy are more action-oriented for my tastes. So I'm giving this a wide berth and I'll see if it's watchable.
Who knows, maybe we'll be pleasantly surprised like House of the Dragon.

In related news, the Valleys of Numenor’s first episode is up on Spotify, should be showing up in Apple and Google (and Amazon) by tomorrow. Going to try to keep up and do an episode a week, will depend on my work schedule during NFL season. Great introductory overview on Valleys of Numenor, johnnypt. Enjoyed the humour and pop culture refs too. Pedal to the metal - never mind them brakes..! Keep us updated.

Thanks all. The video episode may not happen until later, but I’ll see what I can do before the weekend

I try not to put negative videos up if I can help it. Thanks all. Johnny - Loved the podcast, learned a lot about Tolkien and have a better idea about the Second Age and what the new series is going to be about. Here's the link where I found it, highly recommend everyone give johnny's podcast a listen: anchor.fm/john-harchar7I would also suggest you start your own YouTube channel for this. You don't even have to have a video aspect, just add this audio to a title card or image of your choosing and upload it (I do that with Pulp Crazy). You can create the video file using windows photos.

Hopefully over the holiday weekend I'll be able to do something. Plan for tonight is watch both episodes, then go back and make episode 1 notes and go from there.

Saving a lot of commentary for the podcasts but short version: a pretty good start. Some iffy decisions but it's certainly making the effort to hold to Tolkien in a bunch of little things I caught along the way. We'll see where it ends up but it's not a disaster!

I haven’t read the books, apart from listening to The Silmarillion audio book. Overall it’s very enjoyable, but there are few woke castings that are a little distracting.

I haven’t read the books, apart from listening to The Silmarillion audio book. Overall it’s very enjoyable, but there are few woke castings that are a little distracting. There's one part that's a little in that direction that could've been completely fine had they not drawn attention to it. As long as they don't make it a constant feature of that relationship, it's fine because it works in the story of the series that elves and men aren't on great terms at the moment, which will make the ending that much more dramatic, if it's done correctly. Apart from that brief discussion, they so far appear to be following my "Hart of Dixie" standard. But it's early yet.

Thanks for the review John. The series seems to be better than expected. Will your videos be up on YouTube?

It’s there. Some outlets will let you watch the podcast, others will just do audio so I covered the bases. It’s under the Balleys of Numenor channel (on the phone so can’t do a link right now, sorry. But it shows up…eventually)
