This is quite the oddity.
Last night I had NASA's TV channel on in the background, when I heard distinctly familiar music. I thought: 'couldn't be.' I listened for a bit longer and it was clearly evident. Music from the CtB '82 film in a NASA show! It was used towards the end of the show and throughout the credits. Not exactly sure what song, no exactly what NASA show. I used to know all of the songs and titles but, aye, old age. It is one of the songs later in the movie, one of the emotionally charged ones, where the underlying music is the overall movie theme.
Now, what I am curious about is how they would have the rights to use it and why? Was there something Conan related with NASA over the years? Or, did Basil use some older familiar score/piece and incorporate it into the music (Bach, Wagner, Mozart, etc.)?
I keep the TV on the NASA channel because there are no obnoxious commercials and I do not have to wake up to an over-the-top infomercial if I fall asleep to the TV. Or, worse, (gulp!) that super goofy wrestling that is only on late at night.

My guess is the person putting the show together or the person he assigned to do the music said "Hey, you know what would be cool? The music from Conan, can we get it?" and being NASA, they were able to. Probably nothing more than that.
