Has anyone here ever seen this 1985 Disney film? It starred Nicol Williamson, Jean Marsh, and a young Fairuza Balk. Not really a sequel to the more famous 1939 Wizard of Oz movie, but a lot more faithful to the original Oz books. It got some flack from critics at the time for being too dark and scary in parts.

It definitely had a different feel from what I can recall. Wasn't there some rockpeople? That's about what I can remember.

Used claymation to animate them at the time.

They had Dorothy in electroshock, didn’t they? They probably could’ve done without that. Just a little talking to about living in a fantasy land would’ve sufficed.
I thought Journey Back To Oz from the 70s was dark enough.

Yes, the part with Dorothy at the hospital was definitely disturbing. Still a good movie though, IMO.
