What a terrible loss. His health was declining, so it wasn't unexpected, but still. I shall drink to his shade.

Yeah, I only read one short story by him, it appeared in one of the early Thieves' World anthologies. It was excellent, pure S&S.
An older brother, a seasoned adventurer arrives in Sanctuary and avenges his sister against a hermaphroditic deity (supposedly). He wrote a novel length tale of the same character titled, Dagger, but I haven't read it yet.

Sad news indeed. I have Vettius and his friends and I really enjoy those S&S tales set in the Roman Empire. I exchanged a couple of emails with him a few years ago when I was looking for his Cormac Mac Art pastiche. He was kind enough to reply to me.
