Once again, all expense has been spared on the cover art.

Thanks Salant. Interesting, looks like this'll fit into the Black Stone stories in the comics. I prefer these covers to the 1st photoshop cover for the Stirling novel, also got interior artwork by Richard Pace. Conan: Cult of the Obsidian Moon (A Black Stone Novel)
by James Lovegrove (Author) Description: A new chapter of the Titan comics & Heroic Signatures massive narrative event: The Battle of the Black Stone. A thrilling story about Conan the Barbarian facing incomprehensible Lovecraftian horrors written by New York Times Bestselling author James Lovegrove.
A NEW CHAPTER OF THE TITAN COMICS & HEROIC SIGNATURES MASSIVE NARRATIVE EVENT: THE BATTLE OF THE BLACK STONE.
Still mourning Bêlit and flush with gold after a heist, Conan attempts to drink away his sorrows. In his tavern-hopping journey he meets and befriends married couple Hunwulf and Gudrun and their son, Bjørn. A decade ago, Hunwulf eloped with Gudrun after killing her betrothed, they live on the run from her tribe, who are desperate for revenge.
Bjørn has the makings of a shaman, while Hunwulf is prone to having strange fits which bring him visions of past and future lives. When a descendant warns Hunwulf of imminent danger, he and his wife ride out to ambush the tribe, leaving Bjørn with Conan, who vows to protect the boy with his life.
Unfortunately, Conan is betrayed by a former accomplice, and Bjørn is kidnapped by the tribe. Conan and Bjørn’s vengeful parents search for the lad. They catch up to the tribe, only to find Bjørn has been taken by murderous bat-winged figures, who fought with talon and sword. The boy, and other “gifted” children have been taken to the Rotlands, a place plagued by a contaminating supernatural force that warps all who go there. To save Bjørn, the trio must go to the heart of the Rotlands, where strange, horrifying fates await at every turn.

James Reasoner has made an interesting comment on FB , whether at 512 pages it might be too long.

James Reasoner has made an interesting comment on FB , whether at 512 pages it might be too long. Yeah. The challenge will be to have enough substance of events & scenery chewing. As REH did with his HOUR OF THE DRAGON novel, a work far bigger than any previous at that time.

Dunno the word count, but it looks this will be the longest Conan pastiche to date.

You & others do such a great job here supporting REH fandom & spreading the word of new works of his characters! Usually I find news here before anywhere else. If I can return the favor once in a while, that's well earned in return. I know that Pace is illustrating Hocking's 2 novel omnibus CONAN: CITY OF THE DEAD. But I haven't heard that he's doing the same for Lovegrove's OBSIDIAN MOON. But there plenty of time for that to be "corrected". The Jeffrey Alan Love covers for both art graphicly striking. I also like them better than the generic 1 on Stirling's. But I would prefer a fully painted depictive cover. And if it was even close to the quality of Mark Schultz's lushly detailed atmospheric color works for the Wandering Star edition, all the better!

I found the convoluted synopsis a chore to get through, never mind 512 pages........... Even the "best" of the TOR pastiches were "padded out", and they were under 300 pages.......
My gut feeling is that this concept/story was probably a completed manuscript, with Conan "shoehorned" into, after the fact.....

The whole Black Stone thing is wearing out its welcome for me. Using it in the first arc of the new comic series was a cool callback to an old Howard story. Having it turn up over and over its becoming tired. It do not need, or want, grand overarching connected plots in a Conan story. Wrap this stuff up and move on before we end up with some godawful "Black Stone Trilogy" set of doorstops.

Too much whining.
I welcome the recent flood of new pastiche.
More Conan is never a bad thing!

I’m very happy more new pastiche works are being released, with multiple short stories and full-length novels feeding my addiction. I’m a little worried about any S&S novel that runs 500+ pages, but I’m willing to give it the benefit of the doubt until I have had a chance to read it. Personally I believe publishers and writers need to use The Hour of the Dragon as a template on how to write an S&S novel and build from there. Modern readers expect a lot of book for their reading dollars, but that has to be balanced with less padding and concentrate on telling a good, fast-moving pulp adventure in the Howard tradition. Sure, easy for me to say, right? Why don’t I write a Conan (or Bran or Solomon Kane) novel that’s 250 pages long and kicks ass? Show the big time publishers how it’s done. Maybe I will…🤔
