hi, I'm very interested in modern epic, adventure historial or mithological films like Ironclad, Centurion, Hercules... can you suggest me more titles of this type? I think are howardian films in some way

Hey Ollonois! Just off the top of my head, I like The Wind and the Lion, Troy, Excalibur and Lawrence of Arabia.
While not perfect, The Revenant is pretty epic. I still need to watch the new Macbeth movie.

There's a cheap Bluray that Target sells that includes Troy: The Director's Cut and Alexander: The Final Cut. Both are pretty epic, although I haven't watched Alexander fully yet. 300 is in the same package, too as a bonus.
I'd also recommend Kingdom of Heaven: The Director's Cut.

I feel that to be epic a film has to be painted on a wide canvas and to be, to some extent, mythic. Here are some good examples:
Saving Private Ryan
Gallipoli
Ran
Zulu
Glory
Unfortunately, most of the sword and sorcery/sandal and sword movies don't have the scope to be truly epic.
There was once talk about making a movie of 'Gates of Fire', that would be epic!

If you're not scared of foreign films John Woo's two-part RED CLIFF is superb.
Extremely entertaining and truly epic. Just make sure you get the full 4 1/2 version, not the cut down single-film version.
