Looks like Simon & Schuster has jumped on the lucrative self-publishing gravy train. While they most likely would still not pay you to publish your book, they apparently have no problem with you paying them.
And as an added bonus, they *might* even review a self-published book for possible traditional publication, as soon as the fees are safely in their bank. (But probably not.)
