Youtube video with behind the scenes footage and interviews with cast. There is about 2 seconds of the 3 eyed monster from the deleted scene in the work shop.

Good they deleted that. Love the way they made movies back in the 80s, but comparing to this 3 eyed troll or whatever it is, even the ape-man from the Destroyer looks advanced.

This is probably already known to many people, but it was new to me: listening to Arnie's new book and he mentions that in the classic crucifix scene he had bite the neck of a real dead vulture then wash his mouth out with alcohol. Pretty committed 😅

That eye in the back of the head is a pretty creepy idea though, might have worked with proper lighting and some slime/sweat added. I would like to see the scene if it was filmed but I think it would have thrown off the pacing though to have a fight right as they enter the tower.

I got a chance to read Milius' first draft of the script recently. It's a good read, and it's mostly the same as the movie up to a point. Some notable differences:
-There's a giant spider in a room near the top of the tower (kind of like the one from Tower of the Elephant).
-Thulsa Doom is a much less interesting villain. He doesn't really have the same dynamic with Conan as in the film, and his speech about the Riddle of Steel doesn't exist here. He's also constantly described as being extremely attractive.
-His overall plan and motivation are different as well. Instead of using the cult to essentially train sleeper agents to assassinate the rulers of different kingdoms, here he uses the men as food stuffs and women and breeding stock for his Neanderthal underlings, to build a massive army. His line about "remembering why they fear the night" is in reference to him unleashing this army on the world here.
-The story is entirely different from Valeria's funeral on. Thulsa Doom leads his army in pursuit of Conan and Subotai, beheading the Wizard off camera. They return to Shadizar, and Conan has to convince Osric to fight back against Doom. Part of this involves Conan snapping the king out of his nihilistic ennui by smashing the mirrors that surround his throne room. I reckon that someone involved in making Destroyer must have read this draft and liked that part.
-They then gather an army of their own from across the Hyborian Age world, including men from Aquilonia, Koth, Brythunia, Asgard, and even Pictland (these are led by a chief named Mak Moruk, shades of Orlock Mak Morn from Milius' Crown of Iron script, and of course, King Bran).
-They meet Doom's army in battle at a place called Bakari Pass, and there's even a direct pull from the Battle of Thermopylae, where Conan says they will fight in the shade. After much fighting (during which Valeria's spirit saves Conan from Doom's minion Brak, and Osric is killed), Conan beheads Doom and breaks his father's sword. He then raises the Atlantean sword above his head, which is then struck by lightning.
Overall I think the movie itself is better. The idea of the large scale battle is cool, but there isn't enough time to properly build it up, so it doesn't fully work. And themes aren't as well fleshed out. For example, Conan just suddenly understands the Riddle of Steel right after killing Doom, explained to the audience through lazy voice over narration.
