The Hawks-Furthman-Brackett Cycle: Only Angels Have Wings/To Have and Have Not/The Big Sleep/Rio Bravo/Hatari/El Dorado/Rio Lobo. You can follow a thread through just about all of these, the same characters types and plotlines appear throughout, yet each one is its own. Too bad the writers didn't work on Red River, it could've fit in here too.

Leigh Brackett once said in an interview that it wasn't until she got to Hollywood that she experienced sexism due to her being a female writer.

I agree 100%, Johnny. A missed opportunity.

I agree 100%, Johnny. A missed opportunity. I think Fen and Tess could have been more interesting characters if Leigh had her chance to polish them up (not that Charles Schnee was a schlub with Bad and the Beautiful on his resume).
There is one connection apart from Wayne & Hawks: Dimitri Tiomkin reworked the theme to Red River into Dino's My Rifle, My Pony and Me from Rio Bravo, so it's sort of tied in

Just picked up a copy of The Sword of Rhiannon yesterday. Looking forward to reading some classic Sword & Planet. Would love to track down the old Ace double with Conan the Conqueror .., I have a huge pang of nostalgia when I hear the words, "Old Ace Double, The Sword of Rhiannon with Conan the Conqueror." I was a Tasmanian fourteen-year-old when I discovered these two writers. The Hobart Library had acquired that very Ace Double, cut it in two, and bound both novels in hard cover separately. Then someone stole "Sword of Rhiannon" and sold it to a second-hand bookshop, where I happened to find it. And bought it. The page with the Hobart Library stamp had been clumsily pasted down to hide it. The title page named the other half of the Double Novel, "Conan the Conqueror." Off I went to the library and looked for Robert E. Howard. Sure enough, there was "Conan the Conqueror." I took out the book and read it avidly. I was a complete fan of Brackett and Howard from then on.
