At this point, I'm guessing the omnibus will be the last word on Marvel era Sonja, unless it sells really well and they'll toss the other two series into a V2

The new story leads right into the latest RS #1, wasn't too bad in both art and writing. 2nd half of the issue was a reprint of Temple of Abomination from Marvel Feature #1, cleaned up nicely, no garish colors.

There is a humble bundle with all kinds of digital Sonja comics. If you don't have a lot of them yet and like buying digital comics, it's a very good deal:
humblebundle.com/books/red-sonja-50th-anniversary-dynamite-books
(Remember that you can donate to charity almost all of the prize if you adjust it on the site)

I've been wanting to grab more Red Sonja stuff but couldn't really keep it anywhere as the Conan omnibuses take up most of the space! Red Sonja will be digital then.

After RS beer, what's next-Red Sonja hot sauce? Luke Lieberman really knows how to make money of Sonja.

"Dynamite Comics has announced that their 2023 relaunch of Red Sonja, the second title that they began publishing in 2005, and a character celebrating her 50th Anniversary, has confirmed orders following Final Order Cutoff in excess of 72,000 copies. And that Dynamite has printed another 13,000 copies in anticipation of enthusiastic advance reorders and more fans picking up the book in stores following release and word of mouth. Dynamite is currently set to initially print a total of over 85,000 copies. That's only 10,000 fewer than the #0 comic from Free Comic Book Day – and that was free to readers." bleedingcool.com/comics/red-sonja-1-gets-72000-orders-with-13000-overprint/

Still crazy how Sonja just overpowered Conan in the last few years. I know the sales are boosted by cover variants but still, that's impressive.

Unfortunately, Conan has a PR problem. Conan is toxic masculinity. Conan is a meathead. Conan is an unintelligible simplistic barbarian. Clearly unwarranted, in my opinion. But I am basing my feelings on Conan on REH's original yarns; Conan is so incredibly dynamic. But even that said, in CtB '82 Conan covers the body of the naked woman instead of ravaging her like a savage. Red Sonja is an empowered woman. We lust over the sexual nature, swordplay and violence and women latch onto other qualities.
Not sure if I stated it here or not, but I tried getting my younger female cousin into REH, who is a big fan of fantasy and even Dark Ages/medieval historical fiction, and she seemed interested — especially about being the creator of sword and sorcery genre and influencing Tolkien — up until I said "Conan." Her nose cringed up and she said: "No. No. No." No matter what I explained she had no interest. I even explained REH has other characters and the stories are incredibly well written.
So where does Conan's reputation come from? Did the Milius irreversibly damage Conan's image? Where else could his negative image come from? How do we improve it? Can it be improved?
*And, no, I am not talking about making Conan a black, transgendered gay woman like I, unfortunately, read in oh so many social media, as well as other forum, posts.

Isn't it pretty much the same group of people that reads Conan? I can't believe people would like that and hate this. Conan is the base and foundation of the fantasy barbarian and it's still actively used in all kinds of games and media, I don't think it is impossible to use that character and I don't think it is active rejection of him.

I really doubt there are many women or younger people reading Red Sonja.
You'd be surprised how many. It started with Gail Simone and continues…. That's why Dynamite takes care to keep and expand the base of female readers of RS comics. Luke Lieberman spoke on that subject too. It's no coincidence that four out of five writers of RS runs in the last ten years are women. And it's also the reason why Millennium Films didn't choose type of actress for the upcoming movie that most men would want to see. Every single female comment about Matilda was positive: - She is so cute!
Monster's explanation is correct:
It was like that in old days. Now is totally different. Not only because 21st century Sonja is different from the classic Marvel one, but also because the structure, or rather the taste of male comic book readers has changed. Conan is simply too macho for today's sensitive, politically correct comic book kids poisoned by liberal left propaganda from the media.
In the last few years on RS Reddit sub, or on Twitter, RS fans keep appearing asking if we can recommend a Conan comics to them, or do we think they would like Conan. It shocked me at first, but over time I got used to it. And it's no longer strange to me that the age difference between the average fan of Conan and Sonja is so big. A typical fan of Conan is between 40-50 years old, and a typical fan of Sonja is between 20-30.
And what about women as readers of Conan comics? I guess it's not more than 1%.
For years, I managed to get many of my girlfriends or colleagues at work (I work in a mostly female team) to read some of my favorite comics, very often Sonja comics too, but I never managed to convince them to read a single Conan comic. They simply didn't even want to try, but mockingly refused. On the other hand, I'm glad that you simply can't adapt Conan for the female or today's politically correct audience, i.e. the trends that are dominant in the Western entertainment industry, because something like that would turn Conan into a parody and he wouldn't be Conan anymore. Hollywood producers are aware of that and that is why not a single head of a film studio dares to touch him.
The editors at Dynamite finally listened to the fans who demanded an anthology of the best stories for Sonja's 50th birthday:
Great news, but the biggest question is-how good the choice of best RS episodes is. There are many great one shots and short stories, so I hope that we will not see average in this anthology. It's a best way to attract new readers to Sonja's comics.

Interesting info. Maybe I'm on the wrong way because I always assume all (American) comics are read by male readers anyway.
In the end RS being popular will end up helping Conan as they still share a universe in some way. And I like both anyway. But interesting to read about all that.
