I don't know if Kabooooom gave previous slayer issues a 5 out of 5, but if the site is correct, this is gonna be a hell of an issue. I'm not sold, though. I'm really expecting a 4 out of 5 issue.

How is it you have a bunch of reviews out, yet the day it's supposed to be released, you go "Oh...yeah...um...it'll be out next week..." Anyone want to place bets on #8 moving to the end of April?
I have to believe the change from Sergio to Admira for however many issues he'll be doing (one, two, six?) is what prompted the release shifts

Dark Horse is screwing the title once more but in a different way now? What a mess. I did not even know the artist had changed. I have abandoned any hope to see this title take off. It's been now so many years of bad choices and misguiding that I just stopped caring about it. It is now just a habit being here and discussing Conan.

I think it's time to let this go.
If I wanna read the 'Devil in Iron' I'll read the original REH yarn in the Del Rey/Wandering Star editions.
If I wanna read an adaptation I'll dive into SSOC 15.
It would take a miracle for this mediocre team to surpass the quality of Roy Thomas, John Buscema and Alfredo Alcala from the good ol' days.

Dark Horse is in a kind of limbo. If I had to guess the big cheese doesn't really get Conan all that much or doesn't like it.....but because a lot of people LIKE Conan (it's still one of their top earners) he can't get rid of it, so he tries to screw it over.
In any case I wouldn't get rid of it yet. The art is good and the writing is still above average.

Read it....it's actually pretty good. Even though there's action we still see a lot of great character moments. Conan's still haunted by failing his men and though he's adapting to leadership he still feels a little insecure. Unlike in Queen it does what it should. Conan does spare the galley crew in the end, but it's heavily implied (nay outright stated) that he needs to prove to himself that he doesn't just bring death everywhere he goes.
The scene with the gorilla (trust me it makes sense in context) was surprisingly moving and tragic.
Overall I'd give it a 4/5 or 4.5. It's pretty damn good.

Very solid issue. Starts off a little slow, but sets up the Devil In Iron arc properly. Admira does a nice shout out to CTB #100, if he ends up doing a few more issues or the entire arc, I'd be just fine with it. The gorilla scene is quite unexpected but yes, it's not what you expect. This is what I expect from a Conan book.

I didn't care for the gorilla suicide scene, as it was a bit on the ridiculous side. I know the gorilla's final moments of freedom were probably being used as some sort of metaphor or to help Conan reflect on his death-dealing ways, but I found it a bit silly and unnecessary. Gorillas are commonly known to avoid water like that, and if he was so angry at the cruelty of man, I think it would have made more sense for him to die fighting. Aside from that, it was a good issue, though.

This is what I expect from a Conan book. This was a pretty good issue, and the art was a pleasant surprise. I also noted that shout-out to CTB #100, but what got me was how the artist was able to make Conan look formidable and dangerous without drawing him like The Hulk's little brother. Is this artist going to stick around?
