Great thread that needs bumped.

I got into RPG's at 10 or so with the Tom Moldvay penned second edition of the Dungeons & Dragons Basic Set. From there I got into Traveller, Star Trek, RIFTS, and a few others. I drifted away from RPG's during the mid 90's.

Recently I got talked into joining a Star Wars Saga edition campaign, and that re-fired my enthusiasm, in addition to SW's we start playing the old basic/expert D&D, Metammorphosis Alpha, and Lamentations of the Flame Princess.

The Battle of the Bulge began on December 16th, 1944. IMO, it ranks right up there with D-Day as one of the epic battles of WWII.  In honor of that anniversary, Alex over at the CH blog is reviewing Avalon Hill's The Battle of the Bulge:

Gygax magazine is now defunct, by the way. Apparently the Gygax widow found a way for Gary's sons Her step-sons) to use their own last name as a magazine title. Litigation is wonderful. :-P

I think you can still pick up the back issues. There were 5-6, I think, and were pretty decent. A worthy successor to early-days Dragon magazine.
