Doug Draa, editor of Weirdbook, has got some advice regarding submissions to WB: "I judge submissions as a reader and not as a writer (If you've read my stories then you'll know why).
I don't like to read 10 pages of story and still not know what is going on or where it is heading.
I don't like stories about losers who are even bigger losers by the end.
I don't like stories about struggling writers who can't get published or laid.
I don't like Despair.
I like clarity in storytelling.
I guess that's a pretty generalized list.
And you can't imagine how many stories I receive that open up in Starbucks with someone on a laptop."

He's not taking submissions at the moment. I'll post when he does start taking them again.

I might give it a shot.

Doug buys for the next year's issues, not issue by issue. weirdbook-magazine.com/submissions/

I may try to come up with something "original" that meets the guidelines.
Now to go back and format all my existing stories properly.
Thanks!

Doug was interviewed on this podcast and reiterated his views. Basically, he likes "old school" fun pulpy stories and would like to get more submissions in that vein. www.signalhorizon.com/single-post/2018/05/03/Horror-Pod-Class-Interview-with-Douglas-Draa-editor-of-WeirdbookAlso, He doesn't get enough sword-&-sorcery He doesn't get much Cthulhu Mythos He doesn't get a lot of pulp He likes all of the above This year's annual, invite only, Cthulhu Mythos He's trying a relaunch of STARTLING STORIES, starting with one issue, for scifi tales General submissions for Weirdbook 2019 will be open mid-October 2018 Writers who enjoy Pulp, Weird, Adventure Scifi, Horror, "old school," Vikings vs. werewolves, etc. - you should really consider getting something to him in October.

I have to second this, with prejudice. Draa is a good editor who loves the genre and the magazine he publishes, and he wants nothing more than to produce more issues packed full of the stuff he loves and get it into the hands of readers who feel the same.
