I'm sure some Disney Corp. committee thought Reva was supposed to be a progressive role/character?, but the poor acting and writing has her come across as a racial stereotype. And I wonder, if there wasn't such a blanketing overlay of identity-politics that has been so engrained after layer after layer if in another dimension where that never happened if we even would be looking through that lens and seeing character that way. It's like now, people are almost forced to be on the lookout for it at every turn and ultimately movie reviews and the experiences people have are now hinged on these elements.

I enjoyed the first two episodes, will try to do episode 3 tonight. But I do agree the Reva character is not particularly well done. It's not even stereotypical, it'd be just as silly coming out of any character's mouth. Its source is probably close to how you imagined it. Some people's reactions to her however are completely out of line (not yours LW), what is with the racist name calling online over a character you don't like? The actor/actress is not the character, if you feel it absolutely necessary to reach out to them, try being civil. I don't get this bothering actors over roles thing, got too much else going on in my life for that. Only seen episode 1, and completely agree here. Reva is kind of strange... I'm mostly waiting for her to murder one of her fellow inquisitors, which will be cool/amusing. You won't be waiting long...

I watched the first three episodes tonight, they were pretty good but I'm not sure why this story needs to be told. Did we really need to know what Obi-Wan and Vader were doing between Revenge of the Sith and a New Hope? So far, not really. More details below
Regarding the acting, everyone is pretty damn good, except for, sadly, Reva. I know, I know, she's one of the only minority characters, but I'm sorry she's not up to par with the others, to include little Princess Leia. She looks damn good, but I'm not sure science fiction/fantasy is her thing. There's just something off about how she's delivering her lines so far. She's got the look and I think her movements are on point, but they probably should have dubbed over her lines. The visuals are also fantastic, it's such a shame they fumbled John Carter, I'd love to see ERB's worlds brought to life with this same treatment.
The Vader Obi-Wan fight sucked ass. I get it that Obi-Wan has been in hiding for 10 years and he has guilt and ptsd over what happened with everything, but man the fuck up.

I have only seen Rogue One out of the new stuff. I'm kinda tempted by the Obi Wan series. If you enjoyed the other Star Wars shows on Disney+, you'll probably like Obi-Wan. I'm loving it, so far. Not that it means anything to anyone here (seems there's a lot of hate heh), but it's averaging 87% over at Rotten Tomatoes (61% with audience, though).

I've seen in a long time. Captured and held as a slave, he earns respect of the tribe and becomes a member... that's a very S&S storyline, and I thought it worked! Solo - I also quite liked it; it had a lighter, more fun Spielberg-esque feel to me than some others, but a good adventure with all the chases, heists and double-crosses you'd expect.

Didn't hate Boba Fett but it did get a little unfocused as it turned into Mandalorian 2.5 (which I enjoyed just fine). I liked Solo a lot more than most people as well, probably should've been held for a TV show though. It may end up that way if the Donald Glover Lando series follows up on the threads from the movie.

Bobba Fett had its moments, but it never really felt like it was a story that absolutely needed to be told until the real star showed up.
The same can be said for Obi-Wan Kenobi now. Just watched episode 4 and yowza, they need to use whatever AI they used to assist in generated James Earl Jones' voice and see if they can't clean up Reva's dialogue.
Kenobi has some cool moments so far, but I'm not really sure this story needs to be told either. It could also be screwing with the movie canon a bit given Leia and Obi-Wan coming into such close contact, not to mention Vader is around, too. Just seems kind of unnecessary. I didn't need to know what happened between III and IV, and I still don't. Now, what happens after Return of the Jedi... that's another story.

Reva's definitely hit or miss, but I think the character's gotten better/more interesting as series gone on. Dialogue over the top in 1, they overdid the rooftop parkour to a silly degree in 2, but in 3 & 4 I've found her credible. I have to admit, there's probably quite a bit of nostalgic pleasure in getting to fall back into the Star Wars universe that maybe "papers over" some flaws that would annoy me in an original story. Unfair perhaps, but there it is. Boba Fett... honestly part of me thought of it as Space Conan. The opening theme song had a dramatic, otherworldly feel to it that would've matched Basil Poledouris' score to Conan 1982. And an enslaved character awakening a monster that they strangled with their very own chains? With enough time I could probably find those exact panels in an old SSOC comic. This is a long way of saying that a Star Wars show that "has its moments" is good enough for me... I can will myself to ignore the flaws and really savor the good moments. My biggest fear about Obi-Wan is that they'll dilute Darth Vader's or somehow jack up his legacy... but so far I'm on board with how they've used him.
