Well at least there's enough footage for a trailer! :-)

In pure box office terms, SW is fine...for now. But doing a cinematic Thrawn in 1993-1997 would've certainly changed a LOT of pop culture history.

"Unlike the new movies, Zahn's novels stick to the trajectory set up by Return of the Jedi, taking the story to its natural conclusion."
This was my main problem when I read Heir to the Empire, to the point that I couldn't work up the interest in reading any further. Return of the Jedi just isn't very satisfying and Zahn taking so many cues from it was very disappointing to me. I also was not impressed by Thrawn as a villain.

Reading Zahn brought Star Wars back to life for me. I liked the fact that Zahn picked up the timeline a few years after RotJ and went with it. If I had been George Lucas, I would have given someone a stack of Zahn's books and said, "go film this for me."

The thing for me, is that I had the feeling that Star Wars was pretty much done. No one was writing novels. No one was making movies. Star Wars was really falling "off the radar" for me. Then Zahn's trilogy came out and it breathed new life back into the franchise for me. Had these books been released at a different time, say where there were lots of other SW options, my reaction might have been different. I don't know. As it is, the nostalgia element kicked in for me because Zahn was the only option and I re-read each book several times, anxiously waiting for the next one to be published.
Sadly, I feel like there are a lot of mediocre SW books out there. At one point I bought and read everything that came out, but nowadays I buy Zahn's stuff in hardback and often pass on the rest.

I read the Brian Daley Han Solo trilogy and the Lando trilogy when those came out, they were pretty cool. I also read a ton of the Marvel SW comics. Mostly I just watch the movies and TV stuff. I really enjoyed the Clone Wars animated series. they did some really cool stuff with that.
I've enjoyed all the new movies. Rogue One may be my favorite SW movie ever, actually.
Looking forward to Solo.

Looking forward to Solo. I really like the Marvel and early newspaper comics because they feel so wide open compared to what came later, which is sort of why a lot of hardcore SW fans hate them ("A green bunny man?! FAH!!!") The later stuff is more "on model", certainly, but it also feels constrained.

I've enjoyed all the new movies. Rogue One may be my favorite SW movie ever, actually. The best thing about Rogue One is that it ends, what, hours before A New Hope begins. You can go from one to the other as a complete sequence, sort of Epidode IVa and Episode IVb.

Rogue One is my favourite of the newer films. It felt similar to the old ones without retreading old ground.

I liked all the new Star Wars films, including Rogue One, The Force Awakes, and Kathleen Kennedy did a good job with The Last Jedi. They should bring back Billy Dee Williams as Lando Calrissian in the next instalment. I also liked the first trilogy and prequels by Lucas, but I think Lucas lost his way a little later on with too much digital doodling over the originals. I was happy that he did not helm the latest Star Wars movies. Haven't seen the latest Solo movie, but I think a Boba Fett stand alone would work out.
