I'd take Bisley on his worst day over Ching on his best day IMO. Absolutely nothing against Ching, I'm not fit to hold his pencil, but he's the wrong artist for a Conan comic. I wouldn't mind seeing Bisley do a two-part mini ala the Bart Sears one from a few years back. What was that? Conan: The Island? I enjoyed that. Ching is

I liked it well enough. Thaugh did go down rather easily though Yeah, Thaugh's defeat was pretty laughable. This last issue felt a bit rushed, but was otherwise good.

I will give Ching Credit; Salome on the steps with pale white skin was pretty god damn creepy and Valerius shanking her from behind made more sense.
I will do a read through of avenger once I'm done with Cimmerian (need to get back to that.)

OVerall I liked the series; the stories felt like sword and sorcery tales and despite a few warts (They should have had the Blood Oasis storyline take place a fair amount of time after Xuthal rather than right before it) it was good.
The action was good. A lot of the characters were likable. One of the few good things Wood did was make the supporting cast (N'gora N'yaga etc) likable and cool. Van Lente continues the trend. Captain Matak was a likable hardass, following orders while Abit and Diana got me invested in their story. It wasn't overly pc; it felt like an organic relationship that flowed naturally rather than saying "hey i'm totally progressive.)

It was a different take on Thaug, which made it interesting in that regard. Reminded me of the Martian in Quatermass & the Pit (aka Five Million Years to Earth).
I read #23-25 yesterday. The first half of #23 is perfectly done pastiche, if you didn't know any better you'd have thought it was part of the original story. There's some pretty impressive art work in #24 with all the double page spreads. But then you get the other pages with the sketchy, scratchy stuff. It might have been better to have Jose Luis fill in one more issue (maybe #22 or #23) so Brian could've taken a little more time of the other issues.
