The plan was to produce sequels based on the Howard stories. The origin was insisted on by the distributors and then they screwed up Basset by not getting the film distributed in the US.

Solomon Kane will be showing on UK Netflix from August 1st. Hopefully that garners some interest in the character for the future TV show.

I've posted this movie before on the "Howardian" movie thread, but having recently re-watched it, I need to reiterate that "Brotherhood of the Wolf" absolutely "checks those same boxes" as Howard's writing. And furthermore the time period and story totally has "Solomon Kane" vibes, IMO you could pretty much insert Kane in place of the 2 hero's and have a better Solomon Kane movie than the actual Solomon Kane movie (which I also really liked). The movie is French, and I usually prefer subtitles to dubbing, but the English overdub isn't that bad and almost gives it a 60's/70's Hammer film feel (which also adds to the overall experience). The DVD is cheap (Ebay, Amazon, etc..), and I guarantee that fans of Howard will totally dig the movie.

It's pretty darn close to how a Solomon Kane story could be done.

Brotherhood of the wolf is one of my all-time favorite movies. Lots of hand to hand combat, sex, nasty villains, and a helluva creepy monster.
The loaded blu-ray comes out next week, I think.

I don't know whether it's well known here or not - so apologies for what might be non-news - but the director of the Brotherhood of the wolf wanted to make a movie about Agnes de Chastillon, which he then said would have been the most violent and feminist movie ever made. He refused the script that he had received (lots of wizards and ghouls...). That was in 2011... www.fantasy.fr/articles/view/18630/christophe-gans-nous-parle-de-dark-agnes

Here's the interview where (from 18:00) Christophe Gans mentioned being contacted by the owners of REH rights (no name given), the poor script that was submitted to him and his total re-writting of the script.

I dunno if it is OK to upload the complete movie on this forum - I will remove the post if necessary. Here's the complete Solomon Kane movie with Turkish subs. Enjoy Solomon Kane

Don't worry, doesn't look like we can see it here in the states :-) (At least me anyway).

I know it was on Tubi for quite a while earlier in the year.

It was okay when I first posted the video. Now it is unavailable here in the UK, or on my laptop at least.

I loved that movie is one of the best on the action-adventure and fantasy genere that I have ever seeen, its a shame that their "Corto Maltese" adaptation was cancelled, I was sure that Christophe Gans would do a wonderfull movie about it.
