Last Jedi didn't do it for me. Some ideas were good but the story was lacking

I enjoyed 'The Last Jedi' and thought it was very good. I had a couple minor issues, but I think it was a very worthy installment in the Star Wars story.

Put me down on the liking side of the ledger, but I do understand people's issues with it. It does seem like way too many plots got tied up too soon, though there is room for viewing things from a "certain point of view" later on (like the triple Rashomon scene here). And it recycled images and plots from both Empire AND Jedi, so JJ is on his own next time out. I liked the little shout outs to Wild Bunch and Sons of Katie Elder, plus Luke is basically El Cid by the end of the film. And my girlfriend was the one who was bothered by all the women being in charge of everything. Ironically in a year with two movies about Dunkirk, this one sort of functions as a third.

Looks like they are doing one more, final season of the Clone Wars. I, for one, am stoked.

Clone Wars is back. I look forward to this with guarded optimism, as do many others.

How much more can they squeeze out of the Clone Wars?

How much more can they squeeze out of the Clone Wars? Well...about 12 more episodes The show did end a bit abruptly when Disney took over, so it's not a bad idea to revive a well received show to tie up the loose ends, even though Rebels tried to do that.

I was listening to the audiobook of the Coming of Conan and heard a phrase that I had not noticed before in The Phoenix on the Sword. Did Lucas crib this from Howard? "You laid your trust in magic and mummery," answered Ascalante carelessly. "I trust my wits and my sword." "Wits and swords are as straws against the wisdom of the Darkness," growled the Stygian. Although Howard did not write much science fiction, it's not a far stretch that he might have moved more into it with the examples of ERB ahead of him.

I just wondered about a possible Howard connection to another Lucas property over in another thread. 😁
