Marvel still needs to learn what evergreen means.

Not a bad idea by DC.
I would add Wildstorm titles to that list
Alan Moore's Wildcats Warren Ellis' Stormwatch Stormwatch: SPD Sleeper
Wildstorm was amazing before Didio screwed with it by bringing it into the mainstream DCU.

'Where did it go off the rails? It’s not such a conundrum to anyone with two active brain cells and a list of back issues they need to complete their runs. Comics, first and foremost, have always been entertainment. Sure, collectible entertainment, which justifies the cost-to-entertainment ratio. But along the way, the immediate sale and false bolstering of numbers through variant covers, convoluted events, and incessant reboots left the considerations of the fans behind. Character swapping, gender-bending, and changing sexual orientation of beloved characters fell flat with the Wednesday Warriors who supported the industry for decades. The crowd of new readers the changes were meant to attract didn’t translate to a 1-for-1 swap, leaving a declining customer base.' I guess the identity politics agenda driven stuff hasn't attracted enough of the WOKE/Alphabet community readership to keep this going. I agree with many of the other points in the article. Add to that the substandard interior art and weak story lines, noticed that in much of the current Gotham Wars crossover series. Had high hopes for that one, but alas. Marvel and DC these days are operating some sweatshop outfit producing trash and paying most of their flyby staff peanuts to produce it, no vision or real investment. Remember how the Marvel cheap bums tried to hoodwink us with a Conan 'return' to Marvel, that lack lustre rag in comic format they tried to promote as SSOC, but at best was only an acceptably pale imitation of the original. I'm an Aussie, but this depiction of Wonder Woman riding our hopping mascot, and the stupid expression on her, is just ridiculous. This obsession with shitty cover variants is a bit much.

One of the main problems is something I think most of us have noted. There’s a group of creators that view low sales as a badge of honor like they’re making a statement and that’s more important than if people actually buy it. There are other non content related issues as well, as the article mentioned it’s going to take several steps to address all the issues. The relative short term success of Conan highlights one dictum: Know your character, know your audience. The “make sure your audience can buy it” is having some issues at least as far as the covers go, but if you go back to one issue, one cover, that gets solved.

Same here , when I was buying Conan floppies in the DH days I'd just specify the cover I liked best. For me the story between the covers being well written was the important thing , not getting sucked into buying the same story just for another pretty cover I can see online anyway.

Yep that’s my MO-pick one you like and get that, you can look at the other covers whenever you want. However there does seem to be an issue with getting all the covers to all the outlets that want them. Going back to one cover removes this from being an issue. Again it’s a problem of their own making, they thought it was a great way to make more money.

The main problem with the Conan covers is Cover A is often not the cover I want but in order to subscribe to the title via comichub, I can only subscribe to cover a. If I'm lucky I can swap it out in the store for another cover I like better, but not always.
They need to stick with one cover artist that's really phenomenal, like DLT currently. But the variant covers inflate the sales so that's not going to happen.

My closest bricks and mortar comics retailer has the latest CtB, that's not the issue, but never in the cover that I want. All this variant crap, just go with the best cover, artist, and call it a day.

But unfortunately this has become a part of the business they can’t see clear to jettisoning away. An alternate cover for a #1, 25, 50, 100, etc I think is fine. Every issue is just annoying.

If the American comic book industry dies it will be a well-earned and well-deserved death. I’ll mourn because of what it was, not because of what it is. The fools running the industry now deserve nothing less than total failure.

Such a shame! The Frazetta comics from Opus are so great. I was already expecting something like this as issues got delayed and no new issues/series were announced in the previews. I hope they'll manage to finish the limited series that are still running, Mothman and Deat Dealer 2099, and then Frazetta decides to find another publisher. Death Dealer was an unexpected success so I think they'll find someone else to work with.

Amazon just announced they're shutting down the Comixology app in a few weeks.
Another nail in the coffin...
