Frank's birthday is February 9th. Here's an unedited video from the opening day of the Frazetta Museum: It's pretty bittersweet to see Frank and Ellie in that vid.

A new Frazetta hardcover. The Sensuous Frazetta Vampirella, Weird Science, Dejah Thoris: No one renders exotic women better than Frazetta, the World’s greatest Fantasy artist.
Until now, only the most ardent collectors possessed the elusive grail items from the short period of Frazetta’s early-1960s Men’s magazine and risqu paperback illustrations. Often selling for hundreds of dollars each, these rare publications bridged Frazetta’s exodus from traditional comics, to his now-legendary Conan, and Death Dealer paintings. Now, in an affordable volume, Vanguard presents the most complete collection ever, of rare, vintage, Sensuous Frazetta.

A few years back Dynamite put out a new Thun'da comic series and were wise enough to reprint the original Frazetta issue(s) in the back of them. I knew he was a phenomenal painter, but seeing his comics work was a pleasant surprise. I think he was onto something with Thun'da and wisely left once the editors wanted to make him into little more than a Tarzan clone.

Two more paintings that would've fit right into Jim's post: The second painting is one I bought and framed for my dad (who isn't into fantasy stuff).

I'd never heard about this: maskedmayhem.blogspot.com/2013/01/frank-frazettas-thunda-becomes-sam.html

Heh, I didn't know about that. For only having a few early comic appearances, it seems he was fairly popular.

I happened to stumble on these foreign editions of Gene Wolfe's "Latro/Soldier" series. They've got classic FF art, which fits the books much better than the domestic covers.

This is the kinda book I would instantly pick-up if I ever come across it. It's such a great cover... I doubt I would ever read it. Frazetta cover to Lance Horner's Rogue Roman.

Edgar Rice Burroughs, The Mucker - Ace, 1974 Frazetta in his prime. With a little longer hair, it could be a great Conan painting. Ironic, since REH owned the original ERB edition and The Mucker likely influenced the creation of Conan.
