Good news from Project Pride:
"Jeff Shanks, archeologist for the National Park Service, will soon be heading up a team that will excavate the storm/root cellar on the property of the Howard Museum. The goal is to have this project completed before the REH Days in June. Many things have been tossed into that underground room over time, so there’s no telling what they will discover. It’s been said that Dr. Howard’s shingle [sign for his medical practice] is down there!"

I skyped in to the Project Pride board meeting a few days ago and presented my proposal and they voted unanimously to approve it. We're tentatively shooting for April. Since the house is on the National Register and my division does external partnerships we are doing this as an official National Parks Service project. The plan is to leave it open through Howard Days."

I stumbled on this article not long ago. It is a guest blog article that is really well down. So, even though it is on the blog Miss Cellania, the article is titled "Blood, Thunder, & WTM" and is all about the Howard House and his visit there. It really is well done. misscellania.blogspot.com/2019/12/blood-thunder-wtm.html
