Philip Jose Farmer: SFF Grand Master and Major Pulp Fan

Today is Philip Jose Farmer's 100th birthday. PJF was a recipient of multiple awards in the SFF field and a diehard pulp fan. It seemed a thread on the man would be appropriate.

I listened to the first book in Farmer's Riverworld series and I'm hooked. I enjoyed PJF writing Richard Francis Burton, as well as Alice Hargraves. The second book is even better...because how could it not be with Mark Twain, Eric Bloodaxe, and an ancient hominid in the opening chapter.

PJF is one of my three favorite writers (alongside REH and HRH) and I've read a large portion of his output, but I was saving Riverworld. Sadly, this is the last major work of his I have left to read.
