JOKER - Teaser Trailer - In Theaters October 4 Anyone seen this movie? I did. It was well done. It is relentlessly grim and grimy so don't expect to leave the theater in a chipper mood. In addition to the ubiquitous Taxi Driver comparison, I was also reminded of other grimy "New York" movies like Cruising. |

Saw a trailer for Birds Of Prey during the previews for a movie while at the theater. Looks like it will be the dumpster fire of the year. I was hoping that Joker indicated they were moving on from that Suicide Squad-type product, but this trailer suggests not. This looks like one of their crappy TV shows. ......  Yeah, that Birds of Prey looks like it will be hot garbage. |

Wasn't sure if I was going to see this but it was worth it , a very good film and more of a psychological thriller than a comic book film, indeed if we did not know the character so well we wouldn't think it was one. Phoenix deserves all the credit he's getting , a superb Oscar worthy performance. Saying that it is a difficult film to watch and hardly one you come out saying you enjoyed. We have sympathy for Arthur , then as we're cheering him on we realise we shouldn't be for what he's doing , a very strange feeling. I can understand why critics are divided although I feel it's a very brave move for a "comic book" film. With an interesting plot point also that would make an good Elseworlds comic book story. It also has a great , very atmospheric score.

They've gone for a June 2020 release date, which is probably a good marketing decision, but it makes for a long wait ahead for the fans.

The grimy New York look kinda reminded me of mid 70's to early 80's movies like Death Wish and The Warriors.   I read somewhere that due to the box office success of The Joker, Todd Phillips, director of The Joker movie, pitched some ideas about DC black label stand alone films set outside the mainstream DC universe, although nothing has been committed as of this point in time. Maybe I just like NYC subway movies, although it's Gotham in Joker.  |

Well, the Snyder Cut is real and it's coming next year to HBO Max. I used to think this was the longest of all long shots, but it finally happened. It's still to be determined if this will be a miniseries or a movie (or both) but it's happening and I couldn't be more thrilled.

Awesome! I enjoyed the theatrical version of Justice League (I would give it about 7 out of 10) but I would like to see Snyder's version. |
