Michael Wm. Kaluta: Legendary Artist and REH Fan

Mike Kaluta turned 71 today. I decided it was high time he had his own thread. Mr. Kaluta has been an REH fan ever since he read Almuric in 1963 and he was even a member of the Old Forum, posting there quite a few times.

Kaluta was part of the artists' commune known as "The Studio" during the late '70s. His compatriots were Jeffrey Jones, Barry Windsor-Smith and Bernie Wrightson. Here's a good write-up:

MWK did some great work for FAX, indeed. "Iskander" was his first hardcover art job ever and he swung for the fences:

Found out today that the hardcover of the Kaluta edition of A Princess of Mars is just $9.93 NEW on Amazon!  I'd been meaning to buy a copy for awhile. I saw the price today--ERB's b-day and one week after Michael's--and it was a sign from the Gods of Mars. It's already packed and shipped.
