While we are on the subject of Chaugnar Faugn, enjoy this reading of Frank Belknap Long's poem "When Chaugnar Wakes" and the superb stop motion work depicting the creature by Loneanimator Loneanimator's BlogI just got around to watching that. This is way awesome. Check out some of his other videos, it's all great stuff.

Great reading of Robert Bloch's "Notebook Found in a Deserted House". Going to listen to this one tonight. Thanks. Notebook Found in a Deserted House was one of the very first Cthulhu mythos yarns I read as a wee lad and it scared the living hell out of me.

One of the first non-Dark Trinity (REH/CAS/HPL) Mythos tales I ever read. Easily one of Bloch's best. It made my next trip out into the woods a bit spookier, I'll say that.

Same here, the scene with the shoggoth chanting in the woods still pops into my head sometimes when I'm hiking, especially if it's near dark:o

Caught "The Ritual" on netflix the other night, good horror movie with a lot of Lovecraftian elements although there's no direct mention of the established Cthulhu Mythos. Based on the novel of the same name by Adam Nevill which won the 2012 August Derleth Award.

that monster was really cool.
I saw some Howardian themes in the story as well, but I could be off base.

I thought it had a tiny bit of REH's "The Black Stone" and KEW's "Sticks" as well.

great to read Lumleys sparkling and sparking strong reply. putting Price in his place for his overcritical arogance and many mistakes from poor research. >>==== Joshi s blog has plenty info about upcoming mythos collections. [ he is very prolific at editing lots of stuff ] Some of his blah is very controversial from very arogant huge ego.

Didn't Joshi once predict the "fall of the Cthulhu Mythos"? He made it his business to slam the Cthulhu Mythos for years. I guess he finally figured out which side the bread is buttered on. He also called REH's fiction "subliterary hackwork". I wouldn't take Joshi's advice/opinion on anything other than the facts of HPL's life and questions about HPL manuscripts. Even then, I would take everything with a big grain of salt.
