I got to meet Mr. Steranko at a Windy City Pulp & Paper Con several years back. He had several of his paintings of The Shadow on display and they were much larger than the art done for paperback covers usually is, and they were AWESOME. I stared at a couple canvases long enough that my companions became impatient with me.
Steranko himself was scarcely less impressive, dressed with understated elegance, neat as a damn pin and suave as freakin' Duke Ellington. He was friendly and affable and took my stunned praise of his work graciously and with a smile.

I’ve always admired his work, and I was especially impressed with his pre-production art for Raiders of the Lost Ark; outstanding work.

Met him at ComicCon. Even though I'd inadvertently been rather rude by calling out away from the line he was perfectly nice about it. I said "I head you're a legend." He said "I don't know about that."
