Stan Lee, creator of Spider-Man, X-Men and Avengers, dies aged 95



Few people in history have had as much impact on popular culture as Stan Lee. An absolute legend. RIP.

Very few, and taking such an active public part in it for the better part of 60 years, after being part of the comic industry for 20 years at the point he and Jack did FF #1. Thanks to all the cameos the past 20 years, he'll never really be gone. :-)

I was very saddened by this news when I stumbled upon it earlier today. This man was a true legend and pioneer, and he'll be missed. I too raise a glass to him and all the wonderful stories and characters he's created over the decades.

I first started reading Marvel in '63 and it was a real joy to read the wonderful stories he , Jack and Steve put together. Month after month till the end of the decade I'd be cycling round the newsagents desperately searching for the next issues , they weren't distributed over here great at the time. I worked as a paperboy for a couple of years and it was exciting cutting open the bundles of comics and putting the ones I wanted to one side till payday. Thankfully for quite a few years writers like Roy Thomas carried on from his writing with great respect. Of course as far as us here are concerned he OK'd Roy to pick up Conan.

He really was The Man, and a pop culture legend who genuinely loved and could identify with fans and understood fandom.
