I expect the book to get a fully illustrated cover, anything else would surprise me. It is just super un-Conan-like to use clipart covers, even if they did before, it would surprise me if they did it for a new release like that.

If we do get an illustrated cover I hope they avoid the bare-chested barbarian in a fur loin cloth thing. If it is set just before Red Nails we have a pretty good description of Conan and Valeria by REH.
Valeria: She was tall, full-bosomed and large-limbed, with compact shoulders. Her whole figure reflected an unusual strength, without detracting from the femininity of her appearance. She was all woman, in spite of her bearing and her garments. The latter were incongruous, in view of her present environs. Instead of a skirt she wore short, wide-legged silk breeches, which ceased a hand's breadth short of her knees, and were upheld by a wide silken sash worn as a girdle. Flaring-topped boots of soft leather came almost to her knees, and a low-necked, wide-collared, wide-sleeved silk shirt completed her costume. On one shapely hip she wore a straight double-edged sword, and on the other a long dirk. Her unruly golden hair, cut square at her shoulders, was confined by a band of crimson satin.
Conan: He was almost a giant in stature, muscles rippling smoothly under his skin which the sun had burned brown. His garb was similar to hers, except that he wore a broad leather belt instead of a girdle. Broadsword and poniard hung from this belt.

Slightly confused as some copy blurb says it's "set early in his life" while other copy says it's set before Red Nails which is at a later stage of his life. Hope they haven't screwed up the Conan chronology already? The vagueness of the blurb makes me think that it's as much of a placeholder as the cover. Presumably we'll get a more specific one as we near the release. Yeah that copy is probably a work in process, too. They probably just mean it takes place before he was king. Fredrik Malmberg: We use Conan the Cimmerian on many lines and titles and we don’t have an ambition to exterminate the use of Conan the Barbarian. Terry Allen: Thought it would help to be consistent Love it or hate it, I think the Barbarian moniker is here to stay. That's what the millions of other people living on this planet know the character as. That's about it. I don't even think it's a matter of linking to the 1982 film (there's also the comic connection), just knowing the character as opposed to Cimmerian, which most people wouldn't have a clue about. There's no reason to not use it in other forms.

Still no update on the cover, thankfully we finally get a more accurate description of the yarn at the Titan website. Additionally, the novel will also include spot illustrations by a yet to be named artist and also REH's original Conan story Red Nails!! CONAN: BLOOD OF THE SERPENT The All-New Chronicles of the World’s Greatest Barbarian Hero
By S. M. Stirling Description
Conan the Barbarian, the world’s most famous fantasy hero, returns in an all-new novel tied directly to the famous works by his legendary creator, Robert E. Howard.
Mercenary, thief, soldier, usurper, Conan has faced conquering armies, wicked sorcerers, and monstrous creatures, wielding a savage sword that cuts a bloody swath across the Hyborian Age. In this all-new novel tying directly into Howard’s definitive canon, Conan is a paid mercenary in a remote Stygian town. There he meets Valeria of the Red Brotherhood, a brilliant swordswoman whose skills lead him to recruit her to the mercenary group. Her take-no-prisoners approach runs afoul of the corrupt politics, and a price lands on Valeria’s head. Seeking to survive, she and Conan become entangled in the vengeful schemes of a priest of Set, the serpent god.
A superstar of novels, short fiction, comics, video games, films, and an upcoming Netflix series, his adventures have inspired many of the most popular authors of the 20th and 21st centuries. This is the first in a series of brand-new, officially licensed standalone adventures, with spot illustrations throughout and a bonus: the original “Red Nails” short story by Robert E. Howard himself.Specifications: ISBN: 9781803361833 Format: Hardback Pages: 540 Published: 18 October 2022 (US) 18 October 2022 (UK) Series: Conan Dimension: 8.00" x 5.13" (US) 198mm x 130mm (UK) US/Canada $24.95 UK/Rest of World £17.99 Source: titanbooks.com/71123-conan-blood-of-the-serpent/

He won a Dragon award back in 2019.

I wish he would write a sequel to The Conquistadors, one of my favorite of his novels. I still remember S.M. Stirling on AH.com. Far and away one of their best posters, and his getting banned from there really marked the downfall of that forum. I think maybe he's still on Facebook. Anyone not allergic to social media should send him an invite to here.

Yeah it's nice to see that they acknowledge the art of Roberto. Hopefully we get to see some more of his art in the comics.
