What the heck is going on with Rings of Power Season 2? I give my thoughts on the rumors with the old bookshelf in the back (It's mostly the ERB books towards the front there, though you can see Echoes of Valor V1-3 there in the middle) <style type="text/css"> #myJAS div , #myJAS p, #myJAS input, #myJAS input[type], #myJAS span, #myJAS a, #myJAS button, #myJAS button[type] { margin:0; font-family:"TT Hoves", "Roboto", sans-serif !important; box-shadow:none; outline:none; box-sizing:border-box; } </style> Crom and Tengri, looks like a right mess over at Amazon for season 2. If they're smart they'll wait a month or so for the Game of Thrones series to finish before the 1st episode. Thanks for the video John.

Thanks johnnypt!
Has it been confirmed anywhere whether Amazon Studios also have the rights to The Silmarillion?
I've sometimes wondered what Tolkien spiked his tobacco with when he came up with the marvelously whimsical Tom Bombadil sequence. But whoever came up with that notion of Tom Bombadil and Goldberry having been Morgoth and Ungoliant musta been toking a tainted batch.
No confirmations of anything other than it’s complete, three women are directing and it’ll drop in 2024. That’s it.

Thanks for the video John. Frankly, I don't think Amazon Studios have the right people for a project of this nature, but to be fair I also think that even Peter Jackson would likely have great difficulty matching his achievement with the original LotR trilogy.

They haven’t even confirmed Ciaran Hinds and Rory Kinnear are in it, let alone who they’re playing.

They haven’t even confirmed Ciaran Hinds and Rory Kinnear are in it, let alone who they’re playing. I guess it can't be easy for Amazon Studios to walk in the shadow of PJ's LotR trilogy. He brought together three generations of Tolkien fans, many of whom were top professionals in their respective fields, who together built a work of such genuine love and artistry that it became a cultural phenomenon transcending it's medium.
That genuine love and respect just can't be imitated as (imho) the folk at Amazon Studios seem to be trying to do.
Just one example - Christopher Lee as Saruman! (I read that he was initially interested in the role of Gandalf. He'd have been an awesome Gandalf too).

Great news johnnypt, thanks. I hadn't heard about this. Sound like Search for Gollum is the first of many:

And here are those thoughts:
I think some people were getting too excited, thinking that the two films were BOTH going to be The Hunt For Gollum. The first one will be Hunt, but the second is up in the air at the moment.

They seem to be in the same shoes as Amazon with regard to having limited source material to draw from for this period. Lets see what they come up with.
That they were filming a trillogy based on the Hunt for Gollem was my initial impression too johnnypt. Glad it will actually be new stuff for each movie rather than somewhat over extending the material like they did with the Hobbit trilogy.

Well.... that's, certainly something, alright.
I'll watch it, but I'm not expecting much out of this multi-million dollar exercise in fanfiction.
I saw someone say at least there aren't any of those Harfoots to be seen. So that's a plus, I guess. Even though the main Harfoot actress is easy on the eyes outside of the show.

The thing that stuck out like a sore thumb was the Acengers shot right there in the opening. I mean, the chick with the bow is right where Jeremy Renner should be! Didn’t see any of the big new additions to the cast except for the new Adar guy. At least Annatar doesn’t have black hair (sure it was just Halbramd in a wig, all he needed was a pair of glasses and the elves would never recognize him!)

Well, it seems Amazon has creasted the meme of the year...but not on purpose. The wig... <style type="text/css"> #myJAS div , #myJAS p, #myJAS input, #myJAS input[type], #myJAS span, #myJAS a, #myJAS button, #myJAS button[type] { margin:0; font-family:"TT Hoves", "Roboto", sans-serif !important; box-shadow:none; outline:none; box-sizing:border-box; } </style>
