We never found out about the mysterious show runner for the Netflix series.
Now, we will never find out about the mysterious filmmaker for the so-called movie that'll never happen.

Just saw on Malmberg’s twitter page that Arnold took his Atlantean sword with him to the Netflix office. Do you think this may be a push by Arnold for one last Conan film? Maybe the Netflix deal Malmberg was trying to make was for an REH Conan series and that why Netflix passed. Could this be Arnold making an attempt to start new negotiations for a “Arnold Conan film?

With that Atlantean sword tease in Stranger Things not too long ago... Anything is possible. I doubt it, but it might be possible. Arnold definitely didn't give up of that one.

Hither unto the fortress of foul moguls he came, to ride off with their women and gold, leaving their gory heads on pikes in the crimson stained hills!

The sword also popped up in The Last Stand.

The sword also popped up in The Last Stand. Yes. But then it was a small tease for Legend of Conan, which was announced and then still a live project. This today and with ST makes me think that maybe, just maybe, Netflix actually wants to do a movie with Arnie.

Netflix has no say in the matter, Malmberg confirmed to Midnight's Edge last week that the series is no longer being developed there; he's taken the rights elsewhere!
What is more, they TODAY released an update detailing what went wrong at Netflix, as well as which story Arnold wanted to tell!

That’s why they need to take their time and make a deal that’s if not a guarantee but as close as you can get, THEN make the announcement.

HBO MAX, Hulu, Paramount? Not yet announced. Malmberg told Midnight's Edge last week that he has a director/showrunner and is in talks with a new party, but he did not say who.

HBO MAX, Hulu, Paramount? With all three of these having money issues I’d be surprised if it was any of them right now. I didn’t take from the story that there was someone ready to sign on at this moment but everything was still in the talking stage. Condal was right for Amazon then it fell apart. If Andre’s right, DeKnight was right for Netflix, but that fell apart. At least Steven isn’t locked down anywhere else right now unlike Ryan so he could still be an option. They need to get a rock solid deal and have pre-production already underway before making any more announcements.

About the most accurate summary that we are likely to get.
