Since the Netflix project seems to be dead, I wondered if we needed a thread. I came to the conclusion that an interim thread between the Netflix thread, and a future thread wouldn't be a bad idea. Surely they are going to whore out the property to the highest bidder, who may, or may not actually do anything with it, again. So where would you want to see a new Conan series? What kind of format? Live-action or animated? I know, we've been down this road before (see the Conan Development HELL Graveyard subforum), but perhaps we'll actually get something of value this time. But I'm not holding out hope. An animated series in the vein of The Conan: Exiles cinematic trailer wouldn't be bad. I'd hesitate to do anything live-action, that just seems to invite problems for fantasy properties.

Yeah, I can see that working, especially animation, some of the DC and Marvel animation films and series have come out better than much of the live action film adaptations.
Maybe that's where they should be taking Conan at this point in time.

There's an article from the new book "Blood of the Serpent" that says: "A superstar (Conan) of novels, short fiction, comics, video games, films and an upcoming Netflix series..." Not that it means much, but, maybe it's still in the game? We haven't get the answer from Fred yet 🙄

We haven't get the answer from Fred yet 🙄 I think the lesson on Conan film projects is LOWER YOUR EXPECTATIONS. The way to read that IMHO is "writer of article did quick google of Conan, saw headline about Conan project in development at Netflix", didn't read the actual article, or if he did it was an old one, and BAM, that sentence was written...

Today would be a good day to check in with Fred
“Sooooo…end of the year…what’ve we got?”

Today would be a good day to check in with Fred “Sooooo…end of the year…what’ve we got?” 'Its been a busy and exciting year for our favorite Cimmerian and his REH cousins, negotiations with a partner we can't disclose yet are ongoing. Great things are ahead*!' *far into the future when Conan enters the public domain in the USA. (Or something like that!) By Crom!

Under normal circumstances they would be (though the GGs ain’t what they used to be). These days, it may just be “…eh, oh well”.

I think that you are doing a disservice to their achievement. Any accolade is still a acknowledgement to a decent creative team.

I just meant the people at Amazon would blow it off instead of realizing what a mistake they made. It certainly made more of an impression than most of Amazon’s fare, including the expensive one.

I got you. While House of the Dragon was by no means perfect. It certainly is more watchable than the Amazon output. Hopefully the powers that be find a good home for some future cinematic Conan output.

A birdie said to me that the Netflix deal is not dead yet. So, like it or not, this saga is far from over.

With the way they're cancelling things over there, they'll certainly have room for it. Wednesday is about the only thing that's going forward.

IF, a big if, there's still an active contract over there, who knows at this point if Netflix is going to do anything with...well, ANYTHING these days. And even if it does, will anyone want to invest time in it if it's not going to last more than a season? www.cbr.com/netflix-cancellations-viewer-burnout-cynicism/

Is in the public domain outside the United States. 2. Will have a significant budget without the large fanbase to go with it. 3. Had Jason Mamoa starring in the last movie and it still bombed.
