Surprisingly, it is a very good comic. This issue will probably sellout very quickly. I can't see Conan doing anything outside the Hyborean Age. This 2099 Conan may be attractive for many people, but this is a different character, not the one Howard created. Both happen to have the same name, though.

I kinda agree about Conan in the Hyborian Age. I think I have posted something similar before; the REH adaptations and the gaps in-between have been covered considerably by both Marvel and Dark Horse - albeit, not all the gaps. It does get a little tiresome after a while so it's nice to see Marvel try something new.

Seeing what Cabinet are letting Marvel do with some character who happens to be named Conan I find I'm feeling more respect for what DeCamp , Milius and Nispel did with him and I never thought I'd think that !

So, did Conan the Immortal just sit out the whole latter few centuries of the Hyborian Age? Because that seem a bit out of character for him, not that being in character is really a concern anymore.

It's the same Conan from the Savage Avengers timeline. In this alternate version of Conan he joins the Avengers in No Road Home #6 shortly after the death of Belit and stays in the current Marvel Universe and becomes King. He is cursed by Morgan Le Fay '...to live until the sun burns the Earth under his feet!' These 2099 comics have never been that good. This is a one-shot so it's nothing to really worry about, at least it shows that Marvel is committed to the Cimmerian by adding the character to the Marvel event. There is one slight problem, the ending is left open potentially, for further adventures of King Conan. Hopefully, they'll leave it alone. It works as a one-shot, Marvel should now move on.

What is it with all the 'worlds fair' type of future cities depicted in Marvel's 2099 comics !?!

Surprisingly, it is a very good comic. This issue will probably sellout very quickly. Shockingly surprising. Seriously, who'd have thought this was going to be good? The only thing I don't quite understand is the ending. Did Crom save Conan?

I'm not certain but it kinda looks like the Nova (Nova Force?) helmet probably saved Conan at the end Thanks for the answer. I have not read any of the 2099 comics and have no clue as to who the Nova are, or what their tech is capable of. So the ending confused me a little.

Nah, Crom wouldn't save Conan's hide. After the events in the issue, I wonder if Conan is going to carve out a kingdom on some distant world. Readable.
The issue got me interested enough to read 2099 Alpha, had a kind of Old Man Logan wastelands feel to it, future Conan was briefly shown, and he wasn't the only barbarian in the future.

Is Alpha any good? Yeah, it's worth checking out, I will certainly follow the series, even though I had major doubts after seeing Conan added to the 2099 bag. Has a similar creative vibe to the other Marvel series set in alternate/different timelines or worlds where the creators were given more licence with the story arcs and established characters. I like the way Doom has been portrayed, old arrogant and despotic self, obvious he has a central part to play in the series, as well as who will be the future Thor, now that's familiar, Marvel wastelands and dystopian settings always have Thor's hammer lying around somewhere. The 2099 depicted seems to be one created from the uncertainties of the present, post apocalyptic/dystopian cyberpunk themes run through the pages of Alpha, Conan 2099 also hinted at climate change, no mistaking this was written in 2019 and not the 90's. I think you can read this without being familiar with the earlier run. I prefer the look of this one. Alpha 1 is more like an introduction to what will happen next, kind of setting things up. The narrative is engaging, I think Nick Spencer has done a satisfactory job with the story, and the art by Viktor Bogdanovic and Marte Garcia is well executed. Damn, now I have to follow the check list. Might as well see where it goes.
