I think the granite monument known as the Georgia Guidestones has apocalyptic overtones. Commissioned in 1979 by man using the pseudonym R. C. Christian they were completed in 1980 to function as some some sort of clock, compass and calendar built to withstand catastrophic events. The monument is a little over 19 feet tall made from 6 granite slabs weighing almost 240,000 in all. The anonymity of the guidestones' authors and their apparent advocacy of population control, eugenics, and internationalism have made them an object of controversy. A message consisting of a set of ten guidelines or principles is engraved on the Georgia Guidestones in eight different languages. I think the first guideline 'Maintain humanity under 500,000,000 in perpetual balance with nature.' has caused much speculation. I posted the above a year ago. Just a follow up on the infamous Georgia Guidestones monument that were commissioned by the mysterious 'Robert C Christian' that would withstand catastrophic events such as a nuclear apocalypse and subsequently act as a sort of 'guide for humanity'. Some of the guidelines engraved on the stone 1. Maintain humanity under 500,000,000 in perpetual balance with nature. 2. Guide reproduction wisely — improving fitness and diversity. 3. Unite humanity with a living new language. The controversial monument has now been levelled after partial destruction from a bombing. In contrast, the ruins of the old city of Washington D.C. where our protagonists escape to is referred to as 'Sanctuary', a place where they can live as free individuals, far away from the tyranny of the sealed and orderly city where they escaped from, although they return to the domed city to present the truth to the citizens that people can live out their full lives. As a kid I found these films more disturbing than horror movies about zombies and vampires. 'I prefer dangerous freedom over peaceful slavery' Thomas Jefferson 1787 Washington DC as a place of freedom and sanctuary. I wonder if that was seen as ironic then as it is now... I've actually never seen Logan's Run, the movie. That almost sounds better than the book.

Anyway, if you really want to see some post-apocalyptic scenery, check out Gary, Indiana on Google Street View. Some of the smaller towns scattered throughout the Great Lakes and Midwest are about as depressing.

Gary, Indiana present They really let that place go to shit. Definitely a contender for post apocalypse setting of the year award

Logan was actually on a mission when he left to find the mythic 'Sanctuary', he quickly learns there is more to life than just the domed city. I was, still am, a fan of the dystopian themed sci fi film genre, the 70's produced some gems in that department.

Some perspectives on this event from Jimmy Corsetti who runs a youtube channel on ancient mysteries called Bright Insight: Good video, will have to share this one. I have to agree with Jimmy Corsetti's breakdown of the Guidestone tenets. Myself, I have always found the so called 'guides' to smack a little too disturbingly of population control, centralism and eugenics. From a legal point of view I don't agree with the destruction of the monument, even ones commisioned by cashed up madmen with warped ideas on managing human populations, it would have been more favourable to have had the stones dismantled through legal order. Well, hopefully the people of Elberton can now move on without the shadow of the Georgia Guidestones monument hovering over their town. They are known for their granite industry I believe.

The Covid pandemic is the backdrop to this dystopian near future thriller. Looking at it, seems all over the place with several different plot lines.
Personally I think there a few things wrong with it, a movie about a mutated coronavirus that is actually killing people is a bit too much, much prefer 'Invasion of the Body Snatchers', the 1978 version, that seemed to resonate more with what happened not too long ago for different reasons.

Really fascinated with Starmer's autocratic and tyrannical Britain, reports of people arrested for facebook posts and demonstrating had me thinking about themes such as censorship, surveillance, propaganda, 'misinformation' and totalitarianism. I thought it was time to take a journey into dystopian futures again, revisit a few of the classics and explore worlds built around control and big brother. Many are familiar with the film 1984 produced in 1984, based on George Orwell's book, but I also enjoyed the version from 1956 which I highly recommend. V for Vendetta from 2005 about a near future Britain ruled by a political party that has turned the nation into a fascist and political regime controlling the populace by way of propaganda, imprisoning and executing 'undesirables'.

Post apocalypse Korean style. Ma Dong-seok being Ma Dong-seok. A heavy guy who knows how to fight would probably fair a lot better in a post apocalyptic environment than most people. Then again, would need more calories and would also need a bit of cardio. This wasn't on my radar, thanks for posting it.
