I still feel it strange that one person , even the top bod , could nix the Conan series at Amazon. I reckon there might have been more to it we'll ever find out. I've no hate for Amazon , they've put out some great stuff , Man in the High Castle , The Expanse , Hanna , etc. as well as series like The Boys and Invincible that really push the boundaries. As well as original series who can complain about them airing Vikings or Outlander? I've got an even longer list of Netflix stuff I really like too LOL! Well, I like "The Expanse"and "Vikings" too but those series were not developed by Amazon.

Netflix, Amazon...we all know that they are just going to screw it up anyway. Might as well just do some light family entertainment production on how Conan saved Christmas by one of the major studios.

I hope Fred got in writing any show isn’t immediately on the chopping block, Netflix has killed off around 20 shows this year, including several licensed properties. No point going through all this for one season.

Yeah, they're pretty ruthless when it comes to cancellations. It's kind of becoming a self fulfilling prophecy at this point. They mostly care about the numbers during the first week, but people are holding off on starting shows knowing they might be cancelled so the first week numbers end being lower than normal.
I don't think Conan is a big enough property for them to do more than a single season if it isn't strong. Gone are the netflix days of producing 2 seasons of Marco Polo even though the show had low ratings.

Netflix its having a hard time this days and people are not seeing everything that they place on their platform, also there is a lot of competition now. Hpefuly if Conan gets ever made they do it with the proper budget because a lot of Netflix cancelled shows are really budget like Jupiters Legacy, for example.

HBO would definitely be a much less chaste home for a cinematic Conan to unleash his ferocity. Hopefully the new year will herald some progress from Netflix.

Have you guys seen the trailer for "The Northman"? Damn! I have, looks fuck'en amazing! I've been looking forward to the movie since it was announced as Robert Eggers' next project. I loved the "Lighthouse", so I was on board for whatever Eggers' was going to cook up next. Guy writes his own movies and does a ton of research on the epoch they are set during.

If the movie its a big success hopefully that could make Netflix take the risk for a high bugdet Conan tv series.

We discussed this briefly elsewhere on the site. Funcom itself is owned by Tencent which is controlled by the Chinese government, effectivelly making Conan the property of the Chinese government. It's a weird situation.
Tencent is very hands off when it comes to the studios they buy, but the weird thing here is that according to Chinese law a lot of what makes Conan "Conan" would actually be banned in China.

Maybe Tencet will have a "special" (cencored) version for China.
