Wow, from that interview I doubt we'll be seeing anything anytime soon when it comes to any type of Conan series. If we aren't seeing signs by now, it's not going to happen. I wonder if the production companies are just going to wait for all the original REH stories to go into the public domain and then not have to pay the IP Holding Company anything. Its really wierd, more than 2 years and they have not even receive a green lgiht from Netflix....maybe after The Northman they could try to do something but right now Netflix its too busy with Vikings Valhalla and The Last Kingdom maybe if they fail they could try to get Conan sooner but at this point I dont know. The Last Kingdom only has a film to finish that story off , VV has been renewed for two more seasons so far, so perhaps when TLK is done they might start looking.

Don't forget, Netflix also has the Witcher, which is a stronger intellectual property in the same genre as Conan.
I don't think Netflix is in any hurry to greenlight Conan. They have a more popular s&s property already.

At this point it's starting to feel like they picked up Conan to keep him off the competition and will just focus on other stuff.

When the option for this is up, they need to take it to HBO. Do we know how long the option is?

On the basis that we started to hear the Amazon series was cancelled September 2018 and the Netflix series was announced September 2020 I think we should listen out for news one way or another September 2022 to begin with.

"We are in development. The ambition is quite high, its not only series but films and animation and we want to make sure it is all well orchestrated and with continuity. Netflix is a huge organization but with us in the middle we try to navigate between the departments and make sure that the creative vision stays on top. I hope we can get greenlight late this year which could mean start of production next year some time." This sounds like Netflix wants to neuter things to make them more in tune with current sensibilities. Yes, I read that in the same way.
I am afraid that "Creative vision" of Conan after navigation between Netflix departments is going to look like this:

Netflix has blamed the current drop in subscribers over the last few months on its pull out from Russia. Hard to imagine that alone would also contribute to the more than 20 percent drop in its stock prices in the recent after hours trading. The number of subscribers will also probably go down due to all the woke material that they are streaming. The fact is that most heroic fantasy and sci fi fans are just not that woke, it gets tiresome beyond a certain point and more than off putting with the constant forced diversity that means nothing beyond some leftists pushing an agenda. Netflix being the way it is at the moment I can easily see a Conan TV series about a confused Conan facing off against Hyborian kingdoms ruled over by the 'white patriarchy', defending the rights of the oppressed, taking lessons on morality from purple haired Wise women on his way to full wokedom, accompanied by an Asian or black girlfriend and his best friend, a trusted transvestite warrior from a more socially advanced civilisation. In the end everyone own nothing and is happy. I know that Elon Musk is buying a share in Twitter, maybe that's a good thing, maybe. In regards to Netflix 'Elon Musk blames 'the woke mind virus' for making Netflix 'unwatchable' after it lost 200,000 subscribers and shares dipped 25%: Streaming giant looks at cheaper ad-supported version to boost customer base. Musk agreed that the 'woke mind virus' is the biggest threat to civilization.' www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-10734555/Elon-Musk-blames-Netflixs-failing-fortunes-woke-mind-virus-unwatchable.html

Please keep political views out of the forum. It’s near unreadable. I like to keep in touch with Howard related news and this left vs right stuff is just noise.
Thank you for your understanding.

These are the more likely reasons along with folks having to cut back as they have to tighten their purse strings. "The company blamed the drop on a number of factors, including its huge size, increased competition, the economy, the war in Ukraine, slowing rollout of broadband, and the large number of people who share their Netflix accounts with non-paying households. It also said the decision to close up shop in Russia cost the company 700,000 new additions." www.theguardian.com/media/2022/apr/19/netflix-loses-subscribers-first-time-10-years-ukraine-shared-logins

Yeah...and if you also make sure that the people in every hyborian kingdom are mixtures of various ethnicities without any rhyme or reason the show will certainly be greenlighted.

No one said 'right', more 'normal verse left' if you need to look at it that way. Seriously, I can easily point you to some of Howard's views on contemporary civilisation if that is all you want, but I doubt you would like it. You don't like the 'noise' don't read it.

Please keep political views out of the forum. It's damn near impossible since politics has taken over everything, including most media like never before and in a extremely polarizing way.
