Is it a little too much to hope for something akin to a 'Shadow of the Vulture' adaptation set in the Hyborian Age? or..... not in the Hyborian age. I would squeal with delight for a 16th century version. and they could avoid any chain-mail bikini controversy. not happening though. maybe in some parallel universe

I did mention to MJ on his/her Instagram page it would be better if it was SonYa Do a People of the Dark kind of thing: During the siege of Vienna, Sonya of Rogatino is knocked unconscious and finds herself in an age of high adventure...and less clothes. I can dig it!

They couldn't go too far wrong adapting some of the novels by David C. Smith and Richard L. Tierney.

I know it appears that MJ Bassett will be directing.
But, it is kinda strange that there's been no official announcement.

Bassett I loved the Solomon Kane movie, its so wierd that we had such a big overhaul of themovie that, as far as I know was supose to start filming this May, BUT I would like to see more Howard adaptations made by Bassett.

“Naked but for her sword-belt, knives and Nemedian boots, she looked like the primitive goddess of war, some legendary queen of slaughter brandishing her red-stained blade.”
As in the case of Conan, RS novels or comics are perfect for movie adaptation, but for some strange reason Hollywood producers and authors love to invent new stories and especially to change the origins of the established characters, and in the end that turned out to be a complete failure as in the 2011 Conan movie case.
Anyway, the reaction of the fandom about recently made changes in RS movie team and appointment of MJ Bassett as new director are more than positive. In fact, there are no negative comments.

"though it’s unknown whether she’ll be continuing where Soloway left off or beginning from scratch with a totally new script." Three guesses what MJ does...

MJ stepping up is a big step in the right direction. But the powers that be need to get this shooting or it's never going to happen at this point.

Not a bad choice. I would vote for Tabrett Bethell
Perfect choice. This woman IS Red Sonja.
Unfortunately, yet another missed opportunity-she is 40y now.

She does, but I think they are looking for younger Sonja because they are planning a franchise. But who knows-yesterday Snannon Kingston, administrator of RS official Insta page and wife of RS rights holder Luke Lieberman, posted photos of Alexandra Daddario. Alex is 36y.

THAT would work! She's got the fantasy ties (albeit the not so good Percy Jackson films), is a charismatic actress and oh yeah, is totally gorgeous. Just watched her get blown up on White Collar.
