The wig looks to be the same color as her real hair?, and neither looks "red" (or even "reddish").......

Could just be dark and dirty for the particular scene she's shooting. Looks like she's fighting or was in a battle, maybe?, Which would be good.
I'm not concerned with her look, in that one horror movie she looks great. There's trick photography to make her look taller and sadly so many actresses feel they have to be super skinny because the camera adds weight, some say 10 or 15 pounds (which is evidently true).

Fan made Red Sonja poster: That's perfectly awesome. I'm down with it. Looks like the painting you posted here, hun, then mirroring the photo you posted. I think Red Sonja should look more like this for the movie. Red Sonya from Rogatino by Michael C. HayesMatilda Lutz kinda looks like Red Sonya in the painting above: This is looking pretty good, actually.

Thanks Conanfan. Kinda disappointed if Danica is supposed to be Hyrkanian. Nomad women do not dress like that - they could have based the Hyrkanian clothing on the Scythians, Huns and Mongols and introduced their own spin on it.

In the Red Sonja version of the Hyborian Age (and Marvel comics version, which started out the same thing), the southern Hykanians are clumped into Free Cities around the Vilayet. IIRC, Red Sonja was born in Pah-Dishah (or was it Makkalat?). One of those two. Red Sonja, though Hyrkanian, was never a nomad, according to the comics of which she was born.

Yeah, but if you look at her origin, her father gets killed cos he refuses to take part in the invasion of Khitai(China). They are nowhere near the city states of Makkalet or Pah-Dishah, somewhere between the Vilayet Sea and Khitai (probably beyond the Great Desert on the map) in the comic.

I guess it depends on which origin you read. I was referring to the Marvel origin--the first time she was seen in the comics in the Conan mag. I have read other origins of her, though, and those do vary. IIRC, it was Pah-Dishah that was supposed to be her home town, so to speak, in that story arc.

Yeah, you're right, in her first appearance (CtB 23), she is a mercenary in the service of King Ghannif of Pah-Dishah. In the first origin story (Kull and the Barbarians 3) her family live further east, closer to Khitai than the Vilayet Sea.

It takes place after Sonja's rape and her family was massacred by the bandits. Sonja, just a kid, has joined up with another bandit group outside of Pah-Disha. The entire Queen Sonja run is quite good, and we visit Sonja as she runs the streets of Pah-Disha, thieving, not unlike Conan in the City of Thieves (or Arenjun, if you like). We also learn of the origin of Sonja's chainmail bikini. It has a purpose. I read this in the trade, Queen Sonja Vol. 3 - Coming of Age, and the story was originally told in Queen Sonja 11-15. I do recommend the Queen Sonja run, if you haven't read it.
