Can't have a page on this thread without some women with red hair from Eastern Europe or in this case with from the land of the Turks - most previously posted by our Hyrkanian:

Yes, of course, Millennium is the owner of the Bulgarian Nu Boyana Film Studios, and it is cheaper for them to film there, but that also is a limitation in their choice of locations. Even MJ complained in one of her videos from Bulgaria that she had to spend a long time looking for filming locations that had not already appeared in other Millennium films.
I bet we'll recognize some of the locations we saw in Conan movie.
By the way, the production designer is Clint Wallace, who is certainly the biggest name in the RS movie team.
Red Sonja is a Hyrkanian, distant ancestors of the Turks, the connection with Bulgaria here is that Bulgaria gets its name from the early medieval Turkic Bulgars that settled the region and gave their name to the country. I think the name Balkan is Bulgar Turk for mountain. Interesting that another branch of the Bulgars established an empire along the Volga River (red haired area of Russia on the map) in the 7th century. The Oghuric Turkic language of the Bulgars was almost eradicated by the Kipchak form of Turkic after the Mongol conquest in the 13th century.

The Udmurt of the Volga have been described as amongst one of the the most red haired people, and I think many of the early Slavs were described as 'ruddy haired', although the darker southern Slavs mixed with the Greek and Illyrian peoples. There is also a certain red haired look amongst many Ashkenazi Jews . Yes, red hair seems to pop up all over the place, especially when it comes to the European and Eurasian peoples.

By Crom & Tengri. A clip from the GREAT Red Dwarf series on the forum, I think it is a first, could be wrong? One of the greatest comedies of all time, in my humble opinion of course!

I guess that's why she got to be "Red" Sonja, she always ends up covered in blood.

Thanks Hyrkanian. At least '...Bassett’s Red Sonja is keeping the chain-mail bikini' and Matilda lute has gained 13 pounds of muscle for the role. Interesting what the crew member had to say about Soloway and her excuse about researching 'Divine Feminity' in a documentary!?: “A complete disaster,” said one crewmember with knowledge of Soloway’s involvement. “They just didn’t feel competent to do the movie,” says Yariv of Soloway, who nevertheless remains attached as an executive producer. (Soloway has a different explanation for the change of role, saying they left to work on a documentary series inspired partly by research done in building the world for Red Sonja: “I shifted into my producer role instead of directing when the timing shifted because I was journeying to the Fertile Crescent to uncover the erasure of the divine feminine and Abraham’s maternal line.”)
I guess we'll just have to wait and see if this turns out OK.

I was hoping that we would learn something new from the article, but unfortunately, it's mostly info that we already know. The composition of the crew, the director's approach, the focus on practical effects instead of CGI, movie role models that MJ aspires to, the approach in the direction and style, the exclusion of Sonja's comic book origin, the environmental themes in the film... and even the information about Matilda's physical appearance is not new because from the photos from the set we could see that she has more pounds than she had in her last film, French horror comedy where she was only skin and bones. But that doesn't do much help because she's still petite and without curves. The information about the chain-mail bikini is confusing because in the photos from the set we saw that Matilda wears a costume consisting of a bikini top and a skirt, and MJ herself said in a video on her Insta that Sonja will wear a costume that is a mix of costume from the comics and practical clothes. It is possible that the reporter misunderstood MJ. The info about Soloway is confirmation that she was kicked out, but unfortunately, there is no information about why Hannah left, because I also commented about her earlier that she was removed in the package with Soloway. The info about the process of creating the movie adaptation of Red Sonja by the heads of Millennium is another proof that from the very beginning they have no idea of how to approach this film, how it should look, how to sell it and to whom.
The biggest absurdity is that Avi Lerner asks MJ to make a film for him that he can sell but he provided her with a modest budget and a B actress for the lead role.
